Job Description:
This successful candidate will work with a team to design and develop the next generation of satellite ground communications products in customer mission data processing business.
It provides an opportunity to grow while both learning from senior architects, and mentoring entry-level developers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in C++, object oriented design, and modern software development techniques.
Design, develop, integrate, and test real-time software to support various products and projects.
Use C++ and object oriented design techniques to develop real-time solutions for various Linux based platforms.
Drive a culture of high-quality software by continuously honing the craft of software development while following industry best practices such as code review, unit testing, and automated system-level regression testing.
Collaborate with product architect to design software solutions and guide the activity of entry-level developers.
Work directly with customers and engineers to perform requirements design tradeoffs and develop solutions in accordance with product architectures.
Work with Product Manager to brainstorm new features and scope new efforts as needed.

Required Skills/Experience:
5-7 years of experience in software development.
Strong understanding of object oriented design and software engineering principles and practices.
Experience developing multi-threaded C++ in a Linux environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Team player.

Desired Skills:
Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (IP, TCP, UDP).
Experience with Python development.
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Familiarity with best systems engineering practices.

Required Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

EchoStar Satellite Services, in Englewood, CO, is seeking a Satellite Systems Engineer who will support of the EchoStar satellite fleet traffic management. Responsibilities: * Ensure quality metrics of the existing and future satellite services provided by EchoStar are met and maintained. * Evaluate spacecraft payload performance and perform required trade-off analysis to optimize and ensure the efficient utilization of the satellite resources by the customer including Dish Network service. * Monitor satellite performance and provide input to the broadcast and spacecraft operations teams in order to optimize the operational transmission parameters as required. * Provide initial evaluation for alternate operations for the customer traffic restoration efforts in the event of service anomaly and supports the anomaly resolution efforts. * Develop link budgets and performs link analysis to support system engineering requirements. * Support FCC and ITU licensing processes for the EchoStar satellite fleet. * Prepare technical satellite performance information including satellite footprint contours in support of the company Business development activities. Basic Requirements: * Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in electrical engineering from a four-year college or university. * At least two years of RF engineering experience * This position requires ITAR access—candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree (M.S.) in engineering from an accredited university. * Good communication skills which shall include preparing written reports, and presentations. * Comfortable presenting information and responding to questions from management, customers, and general public. * Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, calculus. * Strong software and programming skills.
