Job Description:

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems. The successful candidate will work as an Engineer in a collaborative team-focused environment. The candidate will be responsible in the evaluation and integration of commercial applications. Candidate will lead parts of projects through all aspects of the engineering life cycle including scope and work estimation, evaluation, testing, and integration. In addition, will assist in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines and other resource constraints. In addition, candidate will:

  • Participate in the full software engineering life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters

  • Evaluate commercially available and open source tools to determine applicability for use

  • Author, review, and edit documentation related to technical tool evaluation(s)

  • Work closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development and integration

  • Develop solutions where the requirements are not always well defined but always considers the customer first

  • Utilize RF technology for technical solutions.


BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or simliar discipline.

8+ years of proven experience evaluating open source tools and applications to determine suitability of use in an operational environment.

Proven experience working with and evaluating mobile technologies.

At least four years of experience with Linux and/or Windows systems engineering.

Technical writing experience.

Applied knowledge of cyber security principles.

Applied knowledge of cloud services. Basic knowledge of RF technology (from satellite to WiFi) or a willingness to learn.

The candidate will take customer requirements and work with vendors and external groups to define, implement, and deploy new RF communication capabilities. The individual must be able to demonstrate the ability to balance user and functional requirements in an ever-changing environment. Responsibilities include: * Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications * Provide formal documentation and status reports that server the group and serve as reference for other teams * Provide support across the RF communications system development and review environment * Apply, as appropriate, activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk analysis and modern business methods and performance measurement techniques * Create and apply business process improvement practices to re-engineer methodology for problem solutions * Expand or modify system to serve new purposes or improve workflow * Develop analytical computational techniques and methodology for problem solutions * Develop and execute test plans to verify project performance/requirements Required skills: * BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineer, Computer Science, Physics or related field with 12+ years of experience.
