The Counter Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RCIED) Electronic Warfare (CREW) team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineer based out of the Rancho Carmel facility San Diego, CA.

What You'll get to Do:

Counter Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RCIED) Electronic Warfare (CREW) is an operating unit within the Communications business unit of the Airborne C4ISR Systems division of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems.

We deliver complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is on the world of avionics, radio and electronic warfare product applications to enable networked communications. As part of the corporation's business focus area on Communications, we are the "equipment providers." Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way.

This Systems Engineer (SE) will support a team by leading and performing: technical planning; system design and analysis; requirements development; and the allocation and communication of system requirements to hardware, software, and integration & test. This SE performs perform engineering analysis, execute verification test procedures and support the JCREW production line in adjudicating failures and determining root cause. The position involves working in a multidisciplinary environment with both engineers and production staff. This SE will be a contributor on our strong SE team, working to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer and product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

Qualifications for a level 2:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or other STEM discipline and 2 years of Engineering experience.

Qualifications for a level 3:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or other STEM discipline and 5 years of Engineering experience.

Qualifications for a level 2 and 3:

  • Current DOD secret clearance and capable of successfully passing Extensive Background Investigation (EBI) for higher level clearances.

  • Ability to follow circuit and system schematics and design documents, performing root cause analysis on both electrically and mechanically for RF communication devices.

  • Troubleshooting skill on electronic/RF devices.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project).

  • Understanding of DOORS.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within groups.

  • Knowledge of RF/Digital circuitry

  • Proficiency with test equipment (e.g. signal generators, scopes, analyzers, power meters).

  • Experience with Data Link communications and networks

  • Solumina experience a plus.

Preferred Qualifications: * Familiarity with documenting the security posture of a system and reporting on security controls assigned to the system. * Experience validating security assessments and reviews. * Experience submitting ongoing authorization inputs and artifacts to support authorizing authority's ongoing assessment and authorization decisions. * Ability to understand and apply company methodologies, standard, and policies. * Demonstrate the skill and abilities to perform moderately complex security information technology tasks independently. * Must possess familiarity/knowledge of both Enterprise (Windows and UNIX/Linux) and embedded computing platforms. * Experience with structural coverage testing, static code analysis and robustness testing * Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance * Flexibility and strong problem solving, and communication skills are a critical requirement for this position. * Highly organized self-starter with the ability to work with all levels of management with minimum direct supervision. * Knowledge of fundamental information technology principles, concepts and techniques to including software languages, design concepts, test methods, and integration practices. * Minimum 2 years experience with a Bachelors in a STEM field, 3 years with a Masters, or 0 years with a PhD. * Experience with the Risk Management Framework (NIST SP 800-53) and Committee for National Security Systems Instruction (CNSSI 1253). * Experience with the application of the RMF to the DoD (DoDi 8500.01 Cybersecurity). * Experience with the application of NIST 800-171 (Controlled Unclassified Information). * USG Anti-Tamper processes and implementations * Ability to possess an appropriate certification as required by DoD Directive 8570 (such as CISSP, Security ) for an IASAE Level II Position.
