Job Overview:

Formulates and defines system scope and objectives bases on user needs. Devises or modify procedures to resolve complex problems taking into consideration computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time and form desired results. Research and fact finding to develop and/or modify complex integration of applications and solutions across the enterprise. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains those programs. Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of application systems analysis/programming activities.


Develop and implement digital platforms, integrate solutions and related changes; Work with business partners to develop system requirements; Develop program changes; Develop use and associated test cases; Execute test plans; Implement system changes; Comply with departmental standards: Ensure that all tasks are performed in accordance with ITM standards; Perform Production Support as required; Promptly address customer issues/tickets; Address system issues by performing root cause analysis and eliminating repeat problems. (40%)

As a systems and application developer, understand the functional aspects, business processes, interfaces, screens, mock-ups, business flow and data of dependent systems. Strong understanding of how to structure code, patterns, development design, data structures, and development. (30%)

Plan/Communicate: Assist as necessary in developing project plans and schedules; Track progress to plans; Communicate status, issues and risks to supervisor, colleagues and stakeholders on a timely basis. (20%)

Develop strong and productive relationships with business partners, colleagues and management. Collaborate with DFS colleagues in other regions for building scalable solutions. (10%)

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of overall work experience. Preferred experience includes:

  • Information Technology
  • 3 years of experience
  • Work with customers to understand and implement new requirements;

  • Work in an agile team environment to develop, test and deploy software, platforms and changes using agile methodologies, concepts and framework such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Scrum and Kanban; Develop high performance, scalable applications, front end to backend services, integration of solutions using ESB technology

  • Understanding of HTTP protocols for posting messages to cloudbased systems. Knowledge of database access patterns and JDBC

  • Knowledge of asynchronous processing, with experience or thorough understanding how to perform queueing and queue management (add to queue, process queue items, delete from queue)

  • Knowledge of standard MVC frameworks such as Spring, Struts, and Angular

  • Experience in JSON, XML, HTTPs and relevant protocols, AJAX, JavaScript, HTML5 and relevant tools/frameworks, Java and UDB DB2 database technologies.

  • Familiarity with Restful APIs; Working experience with Jenkins, CI/CD, Automation, GIT, Docker, Gitlab CI, Puppet, Knowledge of development in cloud environment is desirable.

  • Provide operational support when necessary

  • Experience in analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting, performance tuning and conducting root cause analysis.


A Bachelors' Degree is required for this role. A Masters' Degree is preferred. Recommended majors include:

JOB DESCRIPTION: ZF produces an array of crash-sensing Restraint Systems which minimize occupant injury during vehicle crash events. Multiple sensors (including acceleration, angular rate, pressure, occupant status, as well as radar and camera) are sampled and conditioned to determine when and with what force to deploy Restraint System elements, using vehicle / occupant-dynamics-based algorithms. ADAG develops the algorithms and vehicle-specific calibrations for the features of these systems, including Front, Rear, Side, and Rollover Collision Detection/Classification, Pedestrian Collision Detection, Occupant Classification -- all used to manage specific single / multi-stage airbag deployments, seat belt pretensioning, collision event data recording, and emergency call notification. The Algorithm Engineer will work within a global team comprised of controls, software, and tools specialists to produce component-level algorithm releases to core and cross-functional project teams, supporting deliverables to customers (vehicle manufacturers). This position will support the development, implementation and release of algorithm components for live application and next-gen core projects as a design expert. POSITION DESCRIPTION: * Design and development of new restraint system algorithms, leveraging the latest sensing technologies -- including those supporting autonomous driving. * Analyze signals from various sensors to develop concepts useful for event discrimination. * Analyze new algorithm performance requirements to determine functional gaps against existing designs. Develop algorithm solutions to close the gaps accordingly. * Present, discuss and negotiate with customers the sensing performance of the algorithms and calibrations. * Collaborate with team members and customer technical experts to advance the state of the art of ZF TRW crash sensing and system response. Provide input to the development roadmap. Present algorithm concepts and learnings to members of the technical community. Innovate. * Support algorithm and calibration peer reviews. * Utilize Matlab, Simulink, StateFlow, Control Toolbox, Optimization Toolbox, and Signal Processing Toolbox according to ZF TRW development process to execute design updates. * Utilize DOORs and PTC Integrity to develop / maintain requirements, manage workflow and archive the algorithm * Design and execute test plans to verify algorithm designs against requirements. Perform Software-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop verification and validation using Mathworks/dSpace - based tool chain. Analyze results to confirm proper algorithm function.
