The Position

Location: Mississauga, CA; Santa Clara, US

We're advancing science to ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need.

We are looking for a seasoned software architect to join the team that's building Roche's cloud-scale commercial end-to-end next generation computational science software system for digital pathology. The software will provide a range of pathology algorithms into Roche's integrated digital pathology solution.

The Position:

As the technical architect for the digital pathology algorithm program, you will lead the technical architecture activities linked to our algorithm framework development and release lifecycle. You will lead software research into performance optimization and partner actively with the technical stakeholders and software development teams to design and deliver the high performance software which underpins our DP algorithms. The candidate for this role must possess the ability to engage stakeholders across the software development lifecycle in order to deliver on the planned product releases.

Success will require providing technical leadership across program boundaries with the goal of delivering a cohesive algorithm product lifecycle process and cloud integration.

The Opportunity:

  • Lead the software architecture activities related to our DP algorithm framework and coordinate with the CSI architecture community of practice.

  • Partner with research and development teams to define state of the art performance characteristics and actively drive the release processes, including verification deployment.

  • Identify new, actionable trends and create means to assess their value for the company.

  • Contribute to the technical strategy and architecture of framework software.

  • Define and deliver prototypes to meet needs for organizational standardization and upcoming needs in software processes.

Who you are:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, preferably Master's Degree in Computer Science or "STEM" Major (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of technical experience along with 3 years of experience leading multi-discipline technical teams and international reach across multiple service types. Medical device and/or healthcare software experience, a plus. Minimum 2 years' experience in the development and deployment of modern machine learning, as well as experience driving and executing cloud and digital technology strategies.

  • Strong experience delivering machine learning and ML Ops solutions which address internal/external customer challenges.

  • Strong knowledge of Python, C++ or another object-oriented programming, software architecture, networking, and high-performance and distributed computing, and/or Linux development, cloud computing.

  • Strong emphasis on software delivery and understanding of the trade-offs necessary to continually deliver a high-performance product. Ability to drive a project from concept to delivery. Internal customer & platform support experience is a plus.

  • Excellent knowledge of software development stacks (python, c++), machine learning technologies and security tools and technologies.

This role is not eligible for relocation support.
