Under the direction of Enterprise Systems Solutions Management, the System Architect is responsible for architecting, analyzing, enhancing, and developing new or existing enterprise-wide software solutions that improve business processes, support business intelligence, and provide the Pearl Companies a technological advantage to its competitors. Provides guidance to and mentors a team of programmers to implement software solutions in a timely manner. Provides advice and recommendations regarding technology solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Consult with Enterprise Systems Intake Manager and/or Business Analysts to gather information about system needs, objectives, functions, features, and other requirements; provide technical recommendations and solutions to managers and executives so that they can make informed decisions; communicate complicated technical terms into understandable business concepts.

  • Architect software solutions to solve complex business problems within various technology stacks geared towards Microsoft .Net; ensure solutions meet business needs and improve efficiencies.

  • Provide technical application support for existing enterprise software systems and processes; correspond with business and other technical resources via ticket queues, email, phone, and face to face communication as issues arise.

  • Architect and develop software enhancements as needed; test system changes and debug code as issues/errors arise.

  • Develop software solutions using various programming languages including C#, JavaScript, and Transact SQL. leveraging various technology stacks including Microsoft .Net.

  • Mentor, train, and provide technical expertise and leadership to programmers as directed by Enterprise Systems Solutions Management; ensure programmers are following standards and are meeting expected deliverable timelines and requirements.

  • Execute and assist with code reviews.

  • Interface on a regular basis with key business users and management regarding ongoing projects and support requests.

  • Write and maintain documentation to describe program architecture, development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to business users and other technical staff as needed.

  • Work with Enterprise Systems Solutions Management and other senior IT leadership to establish a vision and goals for Pearl's information technology; recommends new technologies to senior IT leadership


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; 10+ years software development programming experience, 5+ years of experience designing, architecting, developing and implementing medium or large-sized software solutions; 5+ years of experience with gathering and interpreting business requirements; 2+ years of experience leading a team of programmers; 2+ years of experience with software development methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficiency with .Net Framework (VB or C#) preferred; C++ or Java acceptable; SQL, HTML, JavaScript, XML, Relational Database Management Systems, Object Oriented Programming, and Entity Framework.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to interface with both technical and business team members at all levels within an organization

  • Knowledge and experience with project management processes, quality assurance processes, and IT Service Management processes.

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) certification desired.

Serves as a liaison between technical resources and business end-users for assigned projects and initiatives. Oversees the coordination and administration of Application Administrators and Business Analyst's to implement system solutions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Collaborate with end-users of all IT solutions and services to identify technical, functional and process-based system improvements and optimization. * Serve as the IT configuration expert for assigned systems including but not limited to system configuration, configuration SME, configuration standards/best practices and the overall administrative support of the configuration tool. * Act as a bridge in between business analyst's and the system architects. Providing technical systems solutions for business issues and making sure it meets business needs. * Contribute to creating solutions documentation such as UI mock-ups, workflows, or systems process logic. * Mentor and provide technical expertise to other business analysts, quality assurance staff and business users as directed by assigned IT Services Management. * Document system and end-user requirements as directed by IT Services Management. * Contribute to the creation and maintenance of user guides and training materials. * Maintain a comprehensive understanding of business system applications and interfaces. * Mentors, trains, and provides expertise to a team of Business Analysts and Application Administrators as directed by IT Services Management. * Help lead a team of Business Analysts to work through the full requirements life cycle for assigned projects or initiatives as directed by IT Services Management. * Provide feedback to IT Services Management on how to continually improve IT Services processes. * Oversees the day-to-day assignments and tasks of IT Business Analysts and Application Administrators. * Provides regular updates to IT Services Management on the progress and status of assigned projects and initiatives. * Act as a release lead on assigned releases. * Oversee the systems environment moves. * Coordinate emergency issues and changes with developers and IT Services Management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No direct reports; responsible for providing day-to-day oversight to IT Business Analyst team; may instruct, assign, and check the teams' work at intervals. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in business, business analysis, project management, operations or a related field; 6+ years of experience in a business or analysis; working knowledge of software development life-cycle models (Waterfall, Agile); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory and/or management experience a plus. * Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to interface with both technical and business team members at all levels within an organization.
