Systems Architect III - Engine Test And Operations

This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will work to on board new projects into Blue Origin's Test and Flight Operation's areas to increase test and launch capability. TFO offers a diverse range of test and mission operations capabilities that enable and support the effective implementation of technical and programmatic mission assurance activities on launch and mission systems, ground equipment and facilities, and integrated systems. TFO staff support all program phases beginning with preliminary assistance with concepts of operation, integration planning and system test planning, design and development activities followed by build, integration, verification, and transition to operations events. We are the source of expertise in systems integration - including technology insertion, and system engineering aspects applied to developing operationally realistic tests / operations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who will work with rocket engine and engine test customers to understand their processes and capabilities to inform future upgrades/needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Understand customer requirements and preferred solutions in order to represent the customer for architectural trades.

• Performing systems integration tasks relating to mission and system threads, interface definition, and technology insertion

• Oversee concept development for solutions that integrate emergent upgrades/ programs into existing or new infrastructure.

• Work hand in hand with emerging programs to develop con-ops for testing, launch processing, and launch and mission operations.

• Provide systems engineering and integration expertise to Blue Origin programs seeking operational capability by defining and developing mission, organizational, physical, functional, signal, hardware/software, and operational interfaces.

• Provide test and integration assistance with acquisition support to new programs, and updates to existing programs.

• Provide assistance with the requirements for engineering models, simulations, test beds, and special test equipment for all organizations involved with system testing.

• Provide direct support to programs and offer recommendation and assessments of Test and Evaluation Plans to decrease coordination timelines and mitigate risks of resource conflicts.

• Establish verifiable requirements for systems and ensure the appropriate use of test as a verification and validation technique for programs during the system development.

• Ensure appropriate verification and validation of both interface and transition requirements are planned and executed.

• Ensure the systems are designed with human considerations for all processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience developing complex, large scale operational systems in aerospace / defense

• 5+ years of experience navigating a highly regulated environment (automotive, medical devices, aerospace, etc.)

• Experience across development lifecycle including transition to operations.

• Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with staff at all levels of the organization and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, customers, and suppliers.

• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• BS in a related technical discipline.

• Familiarity with export control (EAR/ITAR) regulations.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
