Job Description: The Systems Architect, Autonomous Vehicle Systems (AVS) will be responsible for the overall concept, technology tradeoffs and platform decisions for automotive compute systems. You will work with multiple stakeholders to understand requirements, viable technologies, and development activities for one or more AVS engineering projects.

This role will ideally be based out of San Jose, CA, but could be based out of any of Flex's sites with North America including, Farmington Hills, Austin, Boston and Toronto.

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do

  • Responsible for customer technical engagements

  • Key software component supplier technical engagements (e.g. QNX, AutoSAR, Nvidia)

  • 3rd party/outsourced partners h/w and s/w technical engagements from systems perspective

  • System architecture definition and specification

  • System integration planning, tools, systems and staff development

  • System management h/w and s/w assets

  • Platform functional safety h/w and s/w assets

  • Assist as necessary in system integration, characterizaion, anlaysis activities including tools and methodologies

  • Provide tehcnical leadership on Automotive design & development projects with high degrees of complexity

  • Use your technical knowledge and experience to participate in multiple level of customer meetings and techincal reviews

  • Review customer autonomous system architectures, identify and communicate potential challenges and provide recommentdations that align both Flex capabilities and cutomers specifications

  • Investigate and remain abreast of technological advancements and industry trends in autonomous vehicle systems

  • Travel as needed to support customers, suppliers and Flex manufacturing plants

Here is some of what you'll need (required)

  • A Master's degree in electrical or computer engineering

  • 15 years or more experience as a leader or major contributor on large, high-complexity development projects in the Automotive industry

  • Familiarity with US OEM processes and customer requirements, including Reliability and DVP&R development

  • Demonstrated success bringing complex systems from concept, through development, and into production

  • Recent hands-on experience in circuit and system design that push the limits of signal integrity for high speed interfaces: e.g.: PCIe, DDR4-5, UPI, 100Gb ethernet

  • Recent experience with server system development that utilize x86 or ARM CPUs, GPGPUs, PCIe switching, FPGAs, and 25Gb/100Gb network architectures

  • Experience in developing rugged equipment assemblies using a combination of air, conduction, and liquid cooling technologies

  • Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms and workloads

  • Familiarity with firmware and software development of BIOS, system management, real-time OSes, GPGPU programming tools (e.g.: CUDA, OpenCL), and RTL for FPGAs

  • Working knowledge of redundancy and fault tolerance techniques for computer and network architectures

  • Experience in all aspects of Design & Development of Automotive Electronic Controllers

  • Working knowledge of circuit simulation, WCCA, DFMEA and EMC

  • Expert analytical ability and trouble-shooting where problems are unusual and complex

  • High level of oral and written communication skills

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and others
