External Job Description

The System Application Analyst is responsible for planning, implementing, configuring, maintaining, and problem resolution for security based applications and supporting infrastructure. The incumbent will interface with Business Resource Managers, Technical Managers, and other peers to provide vulnerability and patch management; enforce compliance of policies, procedures and work instructions; perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, incident and problem management, change and configuration management, and service level performance.

Candidate must have general knowledge in the following areas:

  • Provide security based Application Analyst functionality which includes:

o Installing and configuring new security based applications

o Responding to technical queries

o Software rationalization and lifecycle management

o Performing routine monitoring and audits of systems

o Deploy applications and services related to password updates, application and operating system provisioning, encryption and monitoring

o Application maintenance and troubleshooting

o Coordinate and implement application patches, upgrades, and configuration changes

o System monitoring and performance tuning

o Business continuity, disaster recovery planning and testing, and configuration documentation

o Analyze system and audit logs and identify potential issues

o Responsible for system integrity, backup, and recovery

o Responsible for server builds, security, and transition to production

o Provide 24x7 security application support

o Server and desktop security based applications

Develops computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the companys system architecture standards. Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of experience. 4 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. 8 years of non-related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. 12 years of relevant non-exempt, Manufacturing, Military, Shipbuilding or Trades experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Should have knowledge of Windows Operating System; general knowledge of Linux a plus

  • General knowledge in implementing, patching, and upgrading security based applications

  • General knowledge in application change management processes

  • General knowledge in computer security techniques

  • Good oral and written communications skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Desirable to have Certifications in the field of Security Applications and other associated fields of study

Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications The candidate will be performing audits of maintenance work on NNS cranes and internal audits of crane processes. The candidate should be able to mine data and make written reports based on an analysis of the collected data and field observations of work processes as compared to the applicable procedures. Candidate must not be afraid of heights, be able to climb vertical ladders, and acquire radiological qualification. Basic Qualifications 0 years with Bachelors or NNS Apprentice Graduate Preferred Qualifications This position is with the Crane Engineering & Quality which is responsible for the 600+ active cranes within the Shipyard. We provide a variety of services and work directly with Facilities Maintenance to ensure that our cranes are safe and reliable. This is a production classification and employees work indoors and outdoors (in all seasons) with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. This position does require the successful candidate to be on call for weekend work on a regular basis as well as some flexibility for working between 1st and 2nd shift.
