POSITION SUMMARY:

Effectively supports the organization by leading, coordinating, maintaining, and identifying system requirements and functional design specifications and to ensure design and integration standards are met for assigned Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital computer systems. Provides expert, in depth, functional and technical knowledge on implementation projects and upgrades including requirements definition, design, development, training and support per the system life cycle methodologies and system development standards. Leads small to medium size projects and assists the Manager with project management activities including prioritizing change requests for the team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates expert, in depth, functional knowledge of assigned applications' design requirements, building tools, process flows, data flows, database concepts and structure, and integration with other applications to ensure the system is used to its greatest functionality and system updates/changes are completed with minimal unforeseen issues

  • Excels in analytical thought processes which lead to identifying the root cause of an issue, the possible viable solutions, the impact on end users and a recommended course of action while discerning the impact and urgency of the issue; leverages manager in prioritization of task and provides leadership to, and works with team so that issues are resolved accurately, timely with highest priority issues resolved first and with minimal rework required

  • Creates, maintains, executes, reviews and critiques team test plans which are up-to-date, ready for use, and timely executed, in writing, for all new system and functionality implementations, changes to vendor code and system upgrades which include test scenarios that are designed to test all possible outcomes of design and/or workflow/process change, including unfamiliar and/or more complex processes, to ensure systems/functionality implemented have no significant negative impact on end-users

  • Develops, maintains and reviews system related workflow, dataflow and procedures documentation for all systems assigned for completeness and quality; discusses suggestions with team to ensure continuity of support, and training for subsequent new hires

  • Assists Information Technology Management in proactively planning, organizing and analyzing new and current systems applications and associated processes to anticipate end users' short and long term needs while identifying and keeping manager aware of potential resource conflicts

  • Works well within, and leads and provides guidance to, the team including: willingness to compromise, participates in constructive group discussion, is open minded, willingness to share ideas calmly to promote achievement of goals, actively participates in meetings, displays professional attitude, respects the meeting agenda and assists the Manager in mentoring/educating team members to promote a cohesive team environment

  • Participates in training programs, stays current on industry trends and remains compliant on skills applicable to assigned duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7 years system building and/or process applications experience

  • 7 years of experience demonstrating knowledge of systems analysis methodologies, workflow process analysis and software application systems implementation

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of systems design and installation tasks

Once created, maintains focus and drives the request to conclusion. * Participates on IT Project teams as a PEO representative to ensure that project delivery meets the expectations and specific functional requirements of the PEO. Uses experience and judgment to determine potential impacts to PEO business units, and drives project deliverables based upon those impacts. * Responsible for the creation and execution of test cases/plans and participates in user acceptance testing so that the content and quality of both IT projects and custom applications can be assured.
