BWXT is currently seeking a Systems Analyst for its Erwin, TN location!

The Systems Analyst will work closely with the Database Administrator(s) and other Systems Analyst(s) in the management of both the database environment and various applications server software. The database and application environment is a Microsoft Windows environment with Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Job Description/Duties:

  • Works closely with database administrator(s) with responsibilities such as monitoring the database environment, performing installations, upgrades and configuring the SQL and assisting Systems Analyst(s) with software installations.

  • Troubleshoots all aspects of the database environment.

  • Writes Power Shell scripts to assist and automate maintenance tasks.

  • Assists Systems Analysts in troubleshooting applications software.

  • Manages the service account maintenance and password change process.

  • Assists with configuration and auditing of the IT Applications environment compliance with pertinent NIST DISA Stigs.

  • Creates and follows processes and procedures related to area of responsibility.

  • Works with IT operations for datacenter/network/environment projects and troubleshooting as it affects SQL Server and the applications environment.

  • Creates and executes projects for upgrades in the database environment.

  • Assists other System Analyst with the installation or upgrade of purchased applications installation and associated troubleshooting.

  • The Systems Analyst may be assigned other areas of responsibility in the IT Applications team.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an IT related field is required.

  • Must possess at least two (2) years of related experience.

  • Ability to work under guidelines and procedures.

  • Experience managing projects that affect multiple applications.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks.

  • Possess strong communication skills with ability to translate issues and needs among various members of the IT organization.

  • Possess understanding of SQL Server environment including relational database design, advanced querying techniques scripting, SQL replication, security, backup and recovery.

  • Must have experience working on cross functional teams that include IT applications, security and operational members.

  • Display a strong background or aptitude and desire to learn server side technologies to enable collaboration with the operations team to support and trouble shoot the SQL Server and applications environment including but not limited to: Active Directory and GPOs, AD interaction with SQL security, such as Kerberos and MSA, network resources such as data domains and virtual server environments and configuration for SQL Server.

  • Display knowledge of technologies used commonly in applications including Web Application Server (IIS, WebSphere, TomCat, Web Logic), Certs/SSL and understanding of various development technologies.

  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.

  • Ability to manage meetings and present ideas to groups.

  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q and NRC U clearance.

US Citizenship, with no dual citizenship is required for this position.

The Cyber Security Engineer will primarily be responsible for proactively monitoring event sources for anomalies and developing creative ways to leverage technology, driving the "leg work" to accomplish high priority security objectives, conducting vulnerability assessments, validating the current understanding of the information systems, incident response activities, and being an all-star problem solver. The Cyber Security Engineer will also assist with other information assurance activities required to maintain compliance with contract and regulatory requirements. The candidate will report directly to the Cyber Security Manager and will be responsible for the following scope of work. Job Description/Duties: * Provides technical assistance with the initial set-up, secure deployment, and proper management of systems that support information security including virus detection, application whitelisting, centralized logging, secure email gateways, data loss prevention, web content filtering, intrusion detection systems, and intrusion prevention systems. * Offers technical information security consulting services to support business initiatives that require risk assessments of technology solutions, including Software as a Service (SaaS), web-based applications, custom internally developed applications, and COTS solutions. * Evaluates information system bug reports, threat intelligence, security exploit reports, and other information security notices issued by information system vendors, government agencies, universities, professional associations, and other organizations, and as needed, makes recommendations to internal management and technical staff to take precautionary steps. * Performs risk assessments and tests of new technology platforms and leads the development of Standard Security Configuration Guides for these systems prior to production deployment. * Utilizes vulnerability assessment and remediation software and related tools to immediately highlight errors in systems configuration, the need for the update of software with fixes and patches, and other security related changes. * Acts as a technical consultant on information security incident investigations and performs digital forensic analysis of evidence files and malware samples. * Mentors junior team members in information security fundamentals, skills, and practices to assist in their career development. * Performs administration of the centralized logging platform, develops custom dashboards to monitor security status of the environment, and produces periodic reports of key performance indicators and key risk indicators to support Cyber Security metrics at the executive and operational levels. * Redesigns and reengineers internal information handling processes so that information is appropriately protected from a wide variety of problems including unauthorized disclosure, unauthorized use, inappropriate modification, premature deletion, and unavailability. * Serves as an active member of the Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) and participates in security incident response efforts by directing first responders to triage an event and performing advanced response actions for escalated events. * Develops technical documentation describing the deployment, configuration, and management of shared, networked, and multi-user information security systems. * Supports awareness training of the workforce on information security standards, policies, and best practices. * Attends conferences, professional association meetings, and technical symposia to remain aware of the latest information security technological developments.
