The Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our organization's IT infrastructure. This position involves a combination of system administration, troubleshooting, and proactive system enhancement tasks. You will work closely with other IT professionals and departments to ensure the smooth and secure operation of our systems.

This is an onsite role based in South San Francisco.

Responsibilities:

System Maintenance and Configuration:

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and software applications.

• Monitor system performance and conduct regular system updates and patches of all systems and infrastructure nationwide. 

Network Management:

• Administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.

• Ensure seamless connectivity and optimal network performance.

• Collaborate with network engineer and system engineer to design and implement network enhancements.

User Support:

• Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues as tiered escalation point for the End User Support team.

• Assist as tiered escalation point for user account management, including permissions and access controls.

• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated IT-related problems in a timely manner.

Backup and Recovery:

• Implement and manage data backup and recovery solutions nationwide.

Documentation:

• Create and update system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

• Maintain an inventory of hardware, software licenses, and network assets.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with other IT professionals and departments to understand and address their technology needs.

• Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical staff.

Who You Are:

• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role.

• Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads with critical deadlines.

• In-depth knowledge of system administration, network protocols, and security best practices.

• Strong proficiency in operating systems, including Windows and Linux.

• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).

• Experience with scripting and automation tools.

• Ability to solve problems in a timely manner.

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.

$80,000—$120,000 USD
