The Department of Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) creates an outstanding campus environment through the management of excellent planning, design & construction projects, real estate portfolios & spatial data resources. The Systems Administrator, Senior position is an integral part of the team of architects, engineers, project managers, accountants, IT professionals and administrative support which successfully manages one of the largest University building programs in the country.

The PDC IT group are skilled programmers and IT technicians providing highly specialized and reliable business and financial reporting systems for a department with the highest expenditure rate on campus. They provide custom, focused application solutions for PDC and also other departments on campus. They developed and continue to improve one of the most comprehensive project management and accounting applications in the industry. This is key to protecting the University from the high potential for risk associated with significantly complex projects and providing sophisticated, real-time accurate information to project managers for extremely complex projects and processes. The PDC IT group has integrated traditional IT with Space Data and GIS services to provide a suite of Spatial Services for the University and the public.

The Systems Administrator, Senior will monitor and maintain Microsoft Windows systems availability, performance and security. Analyze, install, configure, integrate and maintain systems software, hardware and related applications. Respond to complex technical and workstation requests from users and technical staff. Test, troubleshoot and optimize systems performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain availability, performance and security of systems software, hardware and related applications.

  • Analyze, install, configure and maintain operating, network and other systems software and utilities, servers and other hardware and related applications systems. Add, remove and integrate software and hardware into existing systems.

  • Test systems and applications software including the impact of software updates and patches.

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software systems. Optimize systems performance.

  • Conduct inventory of systems components.

  • Implement computer software and hardware licensing, warranty and vendor service agreements. Apply system updates and configuration changes.

  • Manage and Maintain file backup systems and data recoverability. Implement data backup and disaster recovery procedures. Responds to security breaches, service interruptions, and other critical situations to re-establish system functionality.

  • Respond to complex technical and workstation support requests from users and technical staff. Support all Windows desk top systems.

  • Install and maintain hardware, software and peripheral equipment for user workstations.

  • Assist with drone photography, webcam installation & monitoring.

  • Perform basic website updates.

  • Manage Windows Servers.

  • Create, monitor, modify and maintain user accounts and implement systems resource use policies.

  • Coordinate systems with other internal/external systems and systems administrators. Participate in planning for system development and expansion. Participate in systems software and/or hardware projects.

  • Stay current on latest hardware and software developments.

  • Remain up to date with current security issues affecting both deployed software or campus infrastructure.

  • Experience with Windows server and desktop administration.

  • Experience in user support and training.

  • Five years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including the installation, testing and maintenance of hardware, operating and applications systems and utilities; OR
  • Associate's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or related field AND four years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including the installation, testing and maintenance of hardware, operating and applications systems and utilities; OR,
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or related field AND two years of progressively responsible system administration and/or programming experience including the installation, testing and maintenance of hardware, operating and applications systems and utilities; OR,
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Hyper-V virtualization administration and performance tuning, SQL Server, and IIS.

  • Veeam Backup.

The successful candidate will be responsible for multiple companies, responsible for the following processes in the Payroll business area: computing wage and overtime payments, recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paycheck advances, and processing terminations. Includes processing small to large bi-weekly and weekly company payroll. Position-Related Responsibilities (for multiple companies) Payroll Administrator I: * Performs all assigned tasks in timely manner, meeting all deadlines. * Supports Payroll team in tasks to ensure timely Payroll processing and meeting all regulatory and reporting requirements. * Processes company payroll utilizing several IS processing and reporting systems, and detailed procedures, with the guidance of more senior Payroll Administrators. * Performs wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wages and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, processing requests for paycheck advances, and processing terminations. * Ensures payroll is posted to correct Accounting general ledger accounts. * Supports outside vendor and internal department requests, and develops good working relationships. * Queries and reports on data in various IS systems regarding Payroll data. * Supports more senior Payroll Administrators in research for special projects. * Maintains confidentiality for all matters regarding highly sensitive corporate and employee information. * This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures. Payroll Administrator II: * Performs all responsibilities of Payroll Administrator I. * Processes all Payrolls and troubleshoots any outliers during process. * Performs account reconciliation for Payroll accounts on a monthly basis. * Works with Accounting team in performing month-end close activities for Payroll team. * Researches and prepares ad hoc reports for management. * Processes garnishments and levies. * Processes terminations, calculating and preparing final paychecks. * Processes all special payments, relocation reimbursements, bonuses, and awards. * Trains less experienced Payroll Administrators. * Reviews work of other Payroll Administrators when performing Payroll functions. * This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures. Sr. Payroll Administrator: * Performs all responsibilities of Payroll Administrators I and II. * Serves as a resource for Payroll Administrators I and II performing payroll processing. * Serves as liaison between Payroll and IS teams in utilizing and maintaining all Payroll-related IS systems. * Serves as reviewer of anything related to payroll processing. * Assists other business areas in the analysis of payroll data utilizing PeopleSoft and BI queries. * Develops test plans and test scripts and manages testing during implementation of new Payroll-related systems and/or the enhancement of existing systems. This includes the modules within the Payroll systems, as well as, the external feeder systems. * Evaluates system issues and works with IS Business Apps team to determine appropriate solutions. Demonstrates a strong understanding of the Payroll-related data flows and responds to user's questions. * This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures. Level: I Description: * Monitors and responds in timely manner to all Payroll centralized emails. * Responds to customer inquiries related to Payroll. * Develops and maintains Payroll reporting files. * Can follow Payroll processing run sheet, utilizing several software applications with some supervision. * Can process a Payroll cycle from start to close with limited supervision.
