About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):

The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $70,122. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Role Overview:

The Systems Administrator Senior for the Web and Application Support Services Team focuses on protecting and defending the State's websites and resources. You will take on and lead complex projects to assess and define needs and research options, create strategies, deploy initiatives, and test and validate installations. This ranking position on the team requires experience, flexibility, self-motivation, collaboration, and leadership. You will be a key member in encouraging team growth by mentoring, training, and guiding peers and newly onboarded staff. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that our team manages customer requests and that they are executed professionally and timely, consistent with established service level agreements while providing friendly and competent services to our customers.

A Day in the Life:

  • Administer Cloudflare SaaS Tenant for External DNS Records (DNS, Proxy, and CDN) and WAF Rules (for logging or implementation)

  • Evaluate and implement WAF-managed security rules and the research of false positives.

  • Administer Delinea Secret Server and Privilege Manager installations, manage secrets and EPM configurations, and maintain software packages.

  • Administer Device42 appliance, manage network discovery jobs and reports, and maintain the operating system.

  • Administer DigiCert Certificate Authority SaaS Tenant, manage certificate lifecycles.

  • Administer F5 BIG-IP appliances, configure and manage proxied sites for load balancing and security on current tenants, and maintain appliance operating system and licensed components.

  • Create and update information technology knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures, and other job aids.

  • Assist with customer projects.

  • Consult with other departments to coordinate activities.

  • Participate in software and product evaluations, providing feedback to teammates and management.

  • Manage Change Management Requests for critical or production environments and participate in Change Management Meetings/Communications.

  • Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise-class appliances and software packages.

  • Mentor, train, and guide/inform teammates and others to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood and followed.

  • Research and evaluate technology products, services, resources, and budget proposals to meet various Agency missions, goals, and objectives.

  • Manage Archer (Governance, Risk, Compliance) Records relevant to this team's resources.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours production support.

What You'll Need for Success:

You should meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

Thorough knowledge of:

  • Information systems, information technology, project tools, and approaches to development and implementation

  • SSL certificate management and lifecycle

  • Security (Active Directory Groups and Group Policies, account access and privileges, auditing, SSL Certificate generation/management)

  • Routing (DNS management, proxy, firewalls, NATing)

  • Network connectivity (protocols, handshaking, SSL Certificates, Geolocation and WAF Rules)

  • Load balancing (F5 BIG-IP primarily)

  • Web hosting (fundamentals)

  • Automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, HTML)

Ability to:

  • Evaluate and solve technical issues effectively and efficiently either independently or in a team environment

  • Communicate complex information clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical personnel

  • Quickly learn policies and standards that frame IT functions and the various IOT Teams that administrate them

  • Prioritize requests, multitask, manage workflows, and provide competent and timely customer service while meeting project deadlines and upholding policies and standards

  • Communicate effectively and work independently or collaboratively with teammates and customers (State, County, or Local Municipality Personnel)

  • Mentor, train, and provide guidance to fellow teammates

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
