Join the APL team as a Linux Systems Administrator and play a crucial role in maintaining and securing our highly classified Linux systems. In this pivotal position, you'll collaborate with our program and cybersecurity staff, contributing directly to the innovative and creative solutions that support APL's mission.

Your knowledge in information assurance, system administration, and systems engineering will be key in maintaining the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of our Linux-based systems across multiple top-secret facilities.

As a Linux Systems Administrator you will... Oversee the comprehensive management, installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems in both stand-alone and networked environments, ensuring they align with our high standards and organizational goals.

Install and maintain a variety of software products, settings, and security configurations to meet compliance requirements and enhance system performance. Proactively identify and resolve software and hardware issues, collaborating with vendor support and internal technical teams to support Linux Client and Server needs.

Apply stringent security configurations to Linux systems following classified requirements, and actively contribute to the creation of security documentation, including configuration guides and system security plans. Work as an integral member of the Linux System Administration Team, engaging in technical planning and continuous improvement of cybersecurity policies, while managing system access and ensuring data redundancy and recovery protocols. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have… A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.

At least 2 years of Linux systems and software level troubleshooting skills, including root cause problem analysis, and the demonstrated ability to creatively resolve problems in a timely manner. Good communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with the Linux community. A strong desire, initiative, and ability to continuously learn and acquire new technical skills.

Experience with the Red Hat Linux family (Red Hat Enterprise Server, CentOS, Oracle Enterprise Linux, Fedora). Proven ability to build and use scripts in the Linux environment. Have a DoD 8570/8140 certification (Security+). Have an Active Top Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance verification and must meet the requirements for access to highly classified information.
