TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking a Systems Administrator II to join our team in Houston, Texas.

Job Summary:
This Systems Administrator II will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of Infinity Systems, hardware and software and related infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responds to requests via the helpdesk in the most expedient manner possible.

  • Receives, configures, and installs requests for personal computers.

  • Provides troubleshooting and repair for moderate network solutions.

  • Recommends changes in operating procedures, hardware standards, and software standards as warranted by new technological changes and operating conditions.

  • Evaluates interface between users, hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall desktop system.

  • Maintains servers, user accounts, file/print permissions as required for both internal and remote users.

  • Daily system maintenance review, such as systems log, antivirus server logs, etc.

  • Performs daily backups.

  • Provides monitoring and reports of the operational status of LAN/WAN environment as needed.

  • Interacts with vendors.

  • Installs and configures computer equipment.

  • Recommends the acquisition or new hardware and/or software as needed.

Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • VM environments, failover clustering, SAN management

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Scripting knowledge (PowerShell)

Provide expertise in Linux and Microsoft Windows server administration. This includes hardware configuration, operating systems, application software and network infrastructure administration that makes up the EMS. Linux and Windows system administration, security and network infrastructure administration, Cyber Security policy implementation and development, documentation, and implementation of internal and external operational policies and standards. In February of 2019 CenterPoint Energy completed an acquisition which added nearly 7,000 employees. Now you'll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic Control Systems Operations team to support our $27 billion-dollar company which has a footprint in 40 states. Specifically, you'll have the opportunity to: * Manages and monitors computer systems and appliances that support transmission real-time operations and distribution control at the Energy Control Center (ECC) and Addicks Operations Center (AOC). * System Administration for Linux and Windows servers in a real-time environment. * System Administration for the EMS infrastructure. Including the configuration and management of network switches, routers and firewalls and the EMS software. * Responsible for installation, upgrades, patching and backups for server OS, network OS, and EMS software. * Write programs and scripts as needed to perform System Administration tasks. * Configuration management for the EMS and ADMS Systems; Integrate system software and applications; install new system builds and system upgrades. * Create and review security and compliance documents as required. Document System Management activity in compliance with NERC standards. Maintain audit ability for all system integration activities. * Review system logs to identify and correct problems. * Provides support for CIP audits, spot-checks, self-certifications, and data requests from NERC and Texas Reliability Entity. * Develops consistent and streamlined operational processes and procedures Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or technology, IT or an equivalent field from an accredited college or university. * (will consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy experience for non-degree candidates) * Requires minimum of two years of experience in some combination of the following fields: Linux system administration, Windows system administration, Network security administration and configuration, application development background or EMS system Administration. Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs): * Able to apply a strong knowledge of information systems including client server architectures, network security, incident response, vulnerability assessments and access control. * Able to demonstrate strong technical understanding of Electric Control Center applications and systems including the Energy Management System (EMS). * Able to apply knowledge of NERC reliability standards, rules of procedure, and terminology. * Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills. * Proven ability to learn new technologies, solve complex technical issues and present complex information in an understandable manner. * Able to perform programming and applications design techniques. * Able to understand software maintenance, development, and quality control procedures and practices is a plus.
