REPORTS TO: IT Infrastructure Manager

AUTHORITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position of Senior Systems Administrator has the responsibility of maintaining, monitoring and managing the existing Wintel Server operational infrastructure. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to, identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems, responding to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support, documenting, tracking and monitoring the problem to ensure a timely resolution.
Additionally these activities and responsibilities include provisioning new Windows servers for use, managing network file and print services, patch management, managing Active Directory accounts and groups, performing system upgrades, creating system documentation, process improvement, daily administration, problem resolution relating to hardware, software, and network communication issues.
Provides highest level support to Service Desk and other staff, troubleshoots problems, answers hardware and software questions, and provides technical assistance
Configures, deploys and repurposes servers and related equipment
Creates and maintains documentation of server systems, operational procedures, topology, and hardware / software inventory
Maintains and coordinates servicing of all Windows servers and peripherals
Provides one-on-one technical training with team members and other users as needed
Maintains a good working knowledge of all company-owned hardware and software
Maintains asset records as required by the organization's asset management process
Participates in the organization's change management process
Documents problem resolutions into the appropriate systems
Deals effectively with people and clearly communicates verbally and in writing
Troubleshoots, analyzes and resolves system and user problems
Plans, organizes and coordinates work assignments and prioritizes workload
Provides customer service via telephone and interpersonal contact
Rapidly deploys approved fixes to systems in response to newly identified stability and security threats
Manage backup and recovery processes and schedules
Manage holistic messaging environments, Active Directory, storage environments and virtual infrastructures
Develop and implement complex Group Policy Objects
Maintain and continue to develop Citrix server farm
Maintain and continue to develop VMWare environment
Participates in compliance activities that include log collection, analysis and reporting
Provides administration to SAN environment that includes CIFS and iSCSI services
Available for after-hours support as required in response to production service outages
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
4 year degree in related field or equivalent education / experience required to successfully complete the assigned duties
7 or more years experience as a Systems Administrator for 100 or more Wintel systems required
5 or more years experience in technical lead role to IT projects required
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2003/2008/2012 Server Operating Systems required
In depth knowledge of Microsoft systems including, Active Directory, Exchange, and Windows file and print services
Knowledge of daily Windows server administration, including system stability, integrity, and troubleshooting required
Proficiency in upgrading of software and hardware, planning and roll out of servers required
Experience with enterprise backup solutions required (Commvault preferred)
Knowledge of LAN protocols including DHCP, DNS, WINS required
Knowledge of SAN technologies required (NetApp preferred)
Experience with scripting in VBS and powershell required
Experience with VMware VSphere required
Experience with quota management for file and email services required
Experience with Citrix XenApp solution required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and professional appearance required
Self-motivated, with the ability to work in both a team environment and individually required
Knowledge of the relevant computer systems, applications and equipment to provide customer support of technical terminology, concepts and applications required
Ability to understand and comply with relevant department and/or corporate policies, procedures and guidelines as they pertain to company data and technology services required
Knowledge of relevant commonly-used concepts, best practices, and procedures as it relates to IT systems operations required
Knowledge of local and remote computer system diagnostic tools required
Knowledge and understanding of ITIL concepts such as Service Desk, Incident Management and Change Management preferred
Manufacturing Industry experience preferred
NetApp SAN experience preferred
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure experience preferred
Experience with SharePoint Server (MOSS) and/or SharePoint 2010 preferred
Proficiency with current versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint preferred
Certification as MCSA 2003 or MCITP preferred

DIRECTION EXERCISED: Assist and provide direction to level I and II System Administrators
DISCRETION EXERCISED: Product / Solution recommendations
