Position Summary

The Systems Administrator will support Oceaneering's Marine Services Division in Chesapeake, VA, focusing on our local classified system. You will manage the basic functionality of assigned systems, including network devices, servers, desktop systems, communication hardware/software, and office systems.

The job will be 100% onsite at our Chesapeake, VA facility initially, with the potential to transition to a hybrid model after 4-6 months, based on demonstrated proficiency, time management, and dependability. This role is perfect for an early career SYSAD professional looking to build on previous education and experience!

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL

  • Certification & Accreditation (C&A): Assist in preparing C&A and System Assessment & Authorization (SA&A) packages under NIST SP 800-37 RMF. Maintain authorization packages and necessary documentation.

  • Security Event Analysis: Analyze, investigate, and validate security events. Ensure security measures are implemented, operational, managed, and validated as per security plans to maintain compliance.

  • Continuous Monitoring: Perform continuous monitoring and document tasks for system Authorizations to Operate (ATOs). Conduct security control assessments in line with NIST SP 800-53 V4 for applications, infrastructure, and networks.

  • Incident Response: Gather data for event analysis and triage, derive conclusions, drive mitigations, and prepare incident reports.

  • Configuration Management: Perform configuration management tasks and maintain necessary certifications to support privileged user assignments and DoD IA training requirements per DoD 8570.1M.

  • User Training: Develop, document, and support user training plans.

  • Technology Application: Proactively seek ways to apply technology to the organization's mission, answer questions, resolve problems, and communicate software and operational changes.

  • System and Network Changes: Collaborate with lead and senior ISSOs to evaluate the impact of system and network changes.

  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks, including data backup support, system security, and user account management.

  • Technical Support: Provide support for servers, network, and desktop hardware, software, and applications. Monitor daily system activities and document changes as needed.

  • Hardware and Software Deployment: Assist with hardware and software rollouts to ensure optimal resource deployment.

  • Field Installation: Provide occasional field installation support, including a few one-week trips per year.

  • Hardware Maintenance: Assist with hands-on cable routing and hardware maintenance.

  • Software and Hardware Documentation: Gather data on software packages, maintain software and hardware lists, and update documentation for assigned systems.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Education: Associate's degree or higher in a related field, or equivalent experience and certifications in lieu of a degree.

  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of servers, desktop systems, and current communication devices.

  • Certifications: Must obtain specialized certifications within 6 months (MCSE, A+, CISCO, Security+ for IAT level I or II) per DoD 8570.1M requirements. Must pass and maintain required DoD IA training and certification.

  • Compliance Knowledge: Basic familiarity with RMF and ATO processes, and experience with continuous management activities.

  • Regulation Familiarity: Knowledge of ICD 503, DoD 8570.1M, and RMF.

  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in current communications devices, protocols, server, and desktop technologies.

  • Auditing Skills: Familiarity with auditing processes.

  • Soft Skills: Strong facilitation and change management skills. Ability to interact with a variety of technical and engineering personnel.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to perform technical surveys and resolve technical issues.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed.

  • Flexibility: Willing to work non-standard schedules for off-hour backups and system upgrades.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Background: Must pass a Special Background Investigation (SBI).

  • Security Clearance: Must already have or be able to obtain and maintain security clearance issued by the U.S. DoD.

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.

DESIRED

  • Knowledge of Windows desktop products.

  • Familiarity with networked printers and photocopiers.
