This Systems Administrator for the Communications Station Automation Systems (CSAS) Provides support in the system administration of Network, Web, and/or communication systems, including Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems involving network security. This includes administration of user accounts, passwords, email, chat, and FTP. Requires comprehensive knowledge of the organization's hardware, software, and network components. Maintains servers, creates monitoring reports and logs, and ensures functionality of links. Monitors Web site for acceptable performance and user accessibility. Establishes back-ups and monitors site security. Consults with and advises network users. Coordinates network administration and performance requirements with others in the information systems function. Identifies, analyzes, and documents long-range requirements and schedules resources related to the enterprise network. Responsible for configuration management and documentation of network and system topologies and/or Web site. Prepares technical implementation plans that provide integrated solutions, including actions, milestones, timelines, and critical paths required for complete solutions.

The Systems Administrator for the Communications Station Automation Systems (CSAS) shall assist in providing implementation and sustainment support for Systems Administrator for the Communications Station Automation Systems (CSAS) to include but not limited to the following support:

  • Testing and analyzing networking hardware and software.

  • Monitoring network connectivity.

  • Installing hardware and software components.

  • Integrating and upgrading operating systems.

  • Setting and/or modifying system parameters.

  • Supporting standard desktop workstation image, including Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Installations, upgrades, and swaps.

  • Setting up new standard desktop workstations, servers, and laptops.

  • Working knowledge of workstation and server imaging tools and concepts, i.e. Window Deployment Server (WDS) and Microsoft Systems Configuration and Control Management (SCCM).

  • Troubleshooting standard desktop workstation and server performance and connectivity problems.

  • Managing client and software revisions.

  • Installing and supporting desktop utilities for virus protections and file viewers.

  • Diagnosing standard desktop workstations, servers, laptops and peripherals.

  • Managing accounts and objects within Microsoft Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC).

  • Troubleshooting account and object issues within ADUC.

  • Able to troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues pertaining to network devices such as DNS and Domain Controllers.

  • Providing feedback and analysis of the Enterprise's Cyber's Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) programs alerts (IAVA) applicability to CSAS and its systems.

  • Applying security and application, patches and updates, provided by Microsoft SCCM server to CSAS servers and workstations.

  • Research and Mitigation into SCCM patch and update shortcomings that fail to close IAVA vulnerabilities either through a patch's line of succession, or through multiple patch applications.

  • Communicate the Enterprise Configuration compliance changes and exceptions to Information Assurance personnel and Leadership as they pertain to CSAS.

  • Must be 8570 IAT II compliant.

Track time and actions in the Enterprise Project Management system when requested. Sustain all technology in accordance with DoD standards and guidance.

Requirements:

  • Education: Associates or Bachelors degree and 4 years of related experience or high school diploma and a minimum of 6 years of related experience,

  • COMPTIA Security+ and a Senior Level Certification appropriate to this position, 8570 IAT II compliant

  • Minimum of Secret Level Security Clearance

This position will assist in supporting our Office of the Secretary of Defense customer in Alexandria, VA. Responsibilities Responsible for providing contemporary technical insights, expertise, and analysis of Land Vehicle Systems (MDAP/MAIS) in support of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, Systems Engineering (DASD(SE)), Director, Major Program Support. Duties will include: Providing program, systems engineering, and acquisition support to the government team lead for the Land Vehicle and Communications portfolio. Conducting OSD-level technical reviews and assessments of DoD major acquisition programs (e.g., PDR, CDR, PSR). Evaluate and make recommendations to the MDA on the readiness to enter/exit acquisition milestone in accordance with statutory, regulatory (e.g DODI 5000.02), and DoD guidance. Aiding Service acquisition offices in developing (and coordinating) comprehensive Systems Engineering Plans (SEPs) for DASD(SE) approval Presenting to senior acquisition leadership on the status and issues associated with assigned communications systems in preparation for acquisition decision meetings. Maintaining objective insight into programs' requirement performance and other technical metrics, schedule, risks, engineering management, production, integration, and other engineering discipline heath and status via quarterly (at minimum) engagement with the program office and contractor sites for the assigned portfolio. Performing ad hoc analysis and generation of high quality technical reports and presentations for senior DoD leadership to support various public speaking engagements, symposium, conferences, and Congressional/OSD/Service reports.
