About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. The team provides resources to assist with compliance execution, reporting, and vulnerability-remediation activities. In addition, the ETT Team is responsible for the overall operation of monitoring tools. Such tools include SolarWinds, the Laboratory's IT service management (ITSM) tool (Footprints), and the Laboratory's central visibility tool-BigFix.

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Reside within 100 miles of Lexington, Massachusetts.

What You'll Do:

The Linux Systems Administrator will demonstrate a strong understanding of Linux operating systems including both workstation and server varieties while supporting the customers enterprise classified computing infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Linux including the underlying systems and services that support them. These systems and services would include but are not limited to file sharing, Satellite, Ansible Automation Platform, multi-factor authentication, disk encryption, and patching. This candidate will also possess some background with DevSecOps concepts (artifact repository, container registries, scanning and platforms, etc.) and tools (Sonatype Nexus, JFrog Artifactory, Prisma Twistlock, RHEL OpenShift, etc.)

As part of this role, the individual will need to demonstrate proficiency, in applying STIGs (full and benchmark), understand how to use DISA's SCC Tool and STIG Viewer, and how to evaluate systems for STIG compliance.

What You'll Bring:

  • Security+ certification (or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment)

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Currently holds a Secret Clearance (OR a higher clearance)

  • 2 years of Network skills (package captures, NIC latency tuning, route tables, and tracing, etc.)

  • 2 years of Scripting Languages: Bash/shell, Python and Perl

  • Presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Strong customer service skills and communication

  • Work Well Independently as well as with a Team

  • 2 years of Configure storage for Linux systems (LVM, file systems, RAID, storage encryption, SAN, NAS, and NFS)

  • 2 years of Linux Troubleshooting (boot process, kickstart building, monitoring of system resources, etc)

  • 2 years of Red Hat Satellite to support Linux systems

  • 2 years of RHEL 7/8 workstation and server support

Working Knowledge of the Following:

  • Utilizing Satellite to support Linux systems

  • Package development and deployment (rpm, yum, dnf)

  • Supporting RHEL 7/8 workstation and server

  • Experience with bash/shell, Python, and perl scripting

  • Understanding of Linux troubleshooting to include the boot process, Kickstart building, systems, monitoring of system resources, kernel tuning, system performance troubleshooting, system calls, and tracing

  • Experience configuring storage for Linux systems (LVM, file systems, RAID, storage encryption, SAN, NAS and NFS)

  • Strong overall network skills (package captures, NIC latency tuning, route tables, and tracing, subnetting, firewall/iptable, TCP/UDP/IP protocols)

  • Ability to work independently toward delivery of goals as well as collaborate in team efforts

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies and disciplines quickly

  • Security+ certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment

  • Bachelor's of Computer Science or relevant technical field of study

And These Skills are a Bonus:

  • Experience utilizing Ansible Automation Platform to support Linux systems

  • Experience supporting DevSecOps environments.

  • Experience supporting software deployment on Linux

  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructure. Preferably in classified environments but public domain experience is also beneficial

  • Experience with the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection (CCRI) process and maintaining an inspection-ready environment.

Location: Lexington, MA

Work Schedule: This position will be 100% onsite due to the nature of the work. There may be some remote flexibility on a case-by-case basis but there are no regular remote days. Must be within a commutable distance from Lexington, MA.

Clearance: Candidates should have an active Secret clearance in order to be considered for this position due to the nature of the work being done. Do not submit candidates if they do not meet this requirement.
