About the Role:

Aquila is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations.A System Administrator is needed in the Communication Systems and Cyber Security to support the development of new technologies.

There are a few requirements for the position:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)
  • Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts.

What You'll Do:

Maintains operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination of infrastructure and cloud responsibilities. Develops and designs core operating system builds. Responsible for coding, virtualization, and automation of systems. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains an active directory of users and system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Assesses and resolves user access problems related to security controls to minimize business impact and risk exposure. Identifies and evaluates vendor products and establishes vendor monitoring and tracking processes. Performs capacity planning and monitors/tunes systems. Recommends appropriate platforms for purchase, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Serves as a point of escalation for major incidents that are unresolved at the helpdesk level. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. May draft general IT communications to end-users including notifications of outages/downtimes. May serve as the primary liaison for mergers, acquisitions, and divesture activities as it relates to user access, network, security, and support.

Responsibilities:

  • Domains: IT Infrastructure, Networking, system architecture design, system configuration management, system troubleshooting

  • Responsible for management, administration, and support of all IT systems' infrastructure in the group.

  • Responsible for configuring and maintaining (physical and virtual) servers and researcher workstations in a secure RMF RMF-compliant and documented manner.

  • Support additional technologies as they are adopted by the Laboratory.

  • Responsible for vulnerability remediation on secure and unclassified systems. Addressing Cat 1, 2, and 3 issues in a timely manner

  • Recognizing and troubleshooting issues with developer's machines as they occur across a variety of Operating Systems. Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc.

  • Perform all related duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Responsible for vulnerability remediation on classified and unclassified systems.• Maintain equipment in secure environments.• Management of users and program data through AFS infrastructure.• Lifecycle management of all IT infrastructure• Subject matter expert on Risk Management Framework, advise RMF deployment teams• Support for standing up of new lab programs by planning and implementation of systems through the development of network plans and procurement of equipment.• Responsible for scoping and executing field tests of program systems, and onsite field test support• 3rd level support for recognizing and troubleshooting issues with user's machines as they occur across a verity of Operating Systems. • Operating Systems: RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, Windows, OSX, VMware vSphere, Cisco IOS, JunOS, ExtremeOS,• Storage: TrueNAS, EMC, Netapp, VSAN, Qualstar, LTO, AIT, Dell, Supermicro.• Hardware: Intel/AMD, Cisco, Sun/Oracle, Dell, Apple, EMC, NetApp, Nvidia GRID, APC, Eaton,• Software/applications: SAP, Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook), MS Active Directory (and all associated services), LDAP, Java, JavaScript, SQL, BMC Footprints, VMware, Matlab, Microsoft SQL Server, HBSS, ACAS, Nessus, McAfee EPO and DLP, ManageEngine, PDQ, Nvidia License Manager, SIMS, GPO, Fusion360, LogInsight, SCC.• Networking applications and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, LDAP, SSH, (S)FTP and HTTP/S, NFS, RX(AFS), SMTP, SNMP, LACP, REST, SOAP, SMB, NTP, SCAP• Programming Languages: Shell Scripting, PowerShell, NodeJS, PHP, MySQL, MSSQL, Arduino, C++, Python, Perl, Ansible• System auditing, hardening, DISA STIGs and firewall configurations.• Strong RMF knowledge• Strong understanding of automation tools like Ansible and or equivalent.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Currently holds a Top Secret Clearance

  • 10 years Networking experience (routers/switches/firewalls/servers)10 years Configure and Manage Centralized Logging and Audit Capabilities

  • 10 years Enterprise Backup Solutions

  • 10 years Hardware: Intel/AMD, Cisco, Sun/Oracle, Dell, Apple, EMC, NetApp

  • 10 years MS Active Directory, LDAP

  • 10 years Strong Backup Experience and Proven Ability to Protect Mission Critical Data

  • 10 years Systems Administration

  • 10 years Technologies including DNS, DHCP, Proxy and Load Balancing

  • 10 years UNIX platform, OSX, Cisco IOS

  • 10 years Virtualization Technologies (VMware, including ESXi and VCenter configuration)

  • 10 years VM Ware ESXi and Associated Management Systems

Education and Professional Accreditation:

  • Degree in one of the following disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related technical experience.

  • Certification(s) in one or more: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); CompTIA Security+
