Insignia Technology Services, a 9th Way Solutions company, has a contingent opening for a Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. Youll analyze problem areas and opportunities for improvement in this mission critical network. This position is located onsite at the Veterans' Administration facilities including Medical Centers with daytime hours and potential for weekend hours. The pay for this position is $43,900 and includes benefits, paid vacation/holidays, 401k with company match and more. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), W2 position that is expected to last through September 2021.
  • Performs installation, configuration, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting tasks in support of IT customers.
  • Diagnose and resolve customer related hardware/software issues utilizing the Service Now tool. Track and document all system changes, problems, issues, and work tasks within Service Now.
  • Provisioning of newly procured endpoints to include desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices. Perform imaging, desktop support, adds/moves and changes.
  • Install OS Patch installation/patch removal (if applicable), OS upgrades and Commercially Available Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software.
  • Provide user management account support where Elevated Privileges (EP) may be required.
  • Perform software application installation and configuration based on change order instructions.
  • Utilize log data and system administration tools to diagnose system hardware and software problems, repair, and re-configure or replace defective system components as indicated.
  • Perform system monitoring and analysis on assigned systems to discover risks and inadequacies, and provide recommendations on the need for expansion, enhancement or revision.
  • Utilize Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and SCOM tools to troubleshoot performance issues and deploy software packages, to include Scripting, McAfee and other VA standard tools.
  • Performs inventory functions to include managing pagers and turn-ins including performing media sanitization, disposal and/or turn in of equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and issues identified by customers and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform routine audits of systems and software to determine utilization and adequacy for demand, and compliance with current hardware and software site license regulations and requirements.
  • Performs general maintenance activities, printer deployment/repair, software installations, EHRM prep and equipment refreshes. May include occasionally pulling old cables from server room as needed.
  • Perform asset management to include asset inventory, audit and tracking, asset administration and reporting, integrated IT asset portfolio, and history and forecasting, automating the asset management process as necessary.
  • May occasionally answer door and escort personnel as needed.

Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in a scientific or technical discipline such as computer science or engineering AND six months of relevant experience. Eight years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S
Work LocationRegular on-time and on-site attendance is an essential function of this position. Responsibilities: The Systems Administrator will be familiar with Information Technology (IT) concepts, practices and procedures and work with customer counterparts to operate/administer network enterprise services. More specific areas of support are identified below: * Performance Management Services * Provide Performance Management services IAW AFI 33-115V1, such as: trend analysis, predictive modeling and use of other diagnostic tools. * Collect data to develop and report metrics that are approved by Air Force/DoD customers. * Provide input to monthly network services outage report that should include network service outages, their duration, number of users impacted, etc. * Provide real-time system operational statistics for proactive management of network services. * Configuration Management * Fault Management * Monitor and respond to Fault Monitoring Management services. * Collect data by monitoring and analysis of network behavior and report such data as required by Air Force/DoD customers. * Provide monthly input to the Network Services Outage Report. * Air Force Unique IT Systems Support * Assist the government in the performance of system administration and database configuration control and documentation support for customer support for unique systems. * Provide hardware maintenance of unique systems. * Execute technology insertion and system refresh required for unique systems as determined by the Government. * System Administration * Provide SA for systems, servers, workstations, peripherals, communications devices and software are on-line and supported. * Have a thorough understanding of customer's mission needs and be completely knowledgeable of hardware and software capabilities and limitations supporting that functional system. * Comply with established policies, directives, and guidelines. * Perform the responsibilities delegated by the network operations center and network control center to optimize performance and quality of service. * Ensure servers, workstations, peripherals, communications devices and operating system/application software are properly configured for network operation, are on-line and are available to customers. * Assign and maintain user IDs and passwords. Administer user privileges on the system. * Perform routine system maintenance. * Work with the network operations center and network control center to implement network security policies and procedures. * Implement software patches and security fixes as required by the network operations and security center or program management office. Job Requirements Qualifications: * An active DoD Top Secret Clearance is required. * The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to access sensitive information, which requires US citizenship. * Associate's Degree (preferred) in a related field or the equivalent combination of related education, professional training or work experience (4 years). * 2+ years of experience in Systems Administration (preferably in Air Force environment). * Minimum IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M (i.e. - Sec+ CE). * MCSA certification (or higher) required. * Ability to work well with others. * Good communication skills. * Self-starter - minimal supervision required. * Good organizational skills. * Proficient in MS Office tools. * Knowledge of common base-level (Air Force) communication and IT systems desired. * Familiarity with Air Force Instructions (17 and 33 series) desired, especially 33-115v1.
