Position Overview:

As a System Administrator, you will directly interact with other system/application administrators and other groups within the organization to troubleshoot, identify and resolve product, configuration or related issues. Delivering excellent customer service is a high priority in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • System administrator for the IDOL search engine, and other enterprise applications.

  • Technical support for internal customer issues via phone calls, email, or ticketing system.

  • Analyze issues, execute a course of action plan, test the issue in stage then push to production systems.

  • Communication internally with developers.

  • Respond to internal customers in a professional, courteous and timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of software installation and configuration on Windows and Linux.

  • Strong application/system problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • 3+ years of experience working in a Systems Administration or Technical Support role.

  • Bachelor degree or above in Computer Science.

Preferred:

  • Experience with IDOL (Autonomy).

  • Experience with Windows Server administration.

  • Familiarity with Linux environment.

The analyst, who reports to the associate director of financial aid, will be responsible for designing business work flows within the software, assuring continuity of operations, compliance with institutional policies and federal regulations, monitoring the accuracy of People Soft financial aid processes, testing new bundles and patches, and developing elegant solutions to serve students efficiently and effectively. Essential Functions * PeopleSoft system administration – Maintain PeopleSoft and scholarship systems in compliance with federal regulations, NCAA bylaws, and university policies. (60%) * Work with OIT engineers to develop elegant solutions and improved functionality to PeopleSoft's delivered functionality Schedule intersystem database transfer processes to verify accuracy and completion * Monitor external data exchange protocols to verity accuracy and completion * Troubleshoot and resolve functional abnormalities * Manage ISIR suspense files * Create queries for system reconciliation and reporting * Ensure SAP functionality is operational * Monitor and reconcile data exchanges with the federal COD system * Ensure spring/summer functionality is working appropriately (all aspects) * Administer simultaneously two distinct financial aid processing cycles * Implement business processes and workflows that complete delivered functionality * Design and develop functionality to administer institutional scholarship programs * Develop innovative solutions to improve services, use resources more efficiently, simplify complexity, and integrate with other systems (20%) * Design strategy for application of updates * Diagnose likely impacts of software modifications by deciphering technical specifications Interpret technical specifications for functional users * Design testing protocols and evaluate results * Work with engineering personnel to resolve bugs * Maintain pre-production environment for testing * Follow short-term, intermediate, and long-term development path, including testing and implementation of quarterly PeopleSoft bundles and annual aid-year rollover (15%) * Understand new federal Title IV mandates for anticipated processing year * Complete set-up tables * Write packaging equations and plans * Consult with engineering personnel to implement new functionality in test environment Design testing for new functionality required by federal regulations * Help define appropriate business processes based on new regulations * Help define new financial aid policies * Report progress to the financial aid director * Develop and support training initiatives on system functionality (5%) * Inform training strategy for new users or new functionality * Assist in certification of system functionality Support modifications in training program to improve comprehension Qualifications Education/Experience Minimum education/experience required: * Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred * 2-3 years of work experience in student financial aid with technical expertise in student information and management systems, preference for experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions; strong preference for experience with system set-up, aid-year rollover, query creation, and packaging.
