Neustar Infrastructure Engineering team is looking for talented systems engineer who is willing to take ownership of our customer facing services. We maintain over 30 platforms which provide services to thousands of customers, many of which are household names. These services use a wide variety of technology stacks, but all have strict performance commitments. We need people who not only understand technology, but also the processes and philosophies required to run highly available (>99.99%) and high performing (In this role, you are committed to driving success through planning, design and documentation. This includes the development and maintenance of documentation, run books, checklists and capacity plans, including document all work activities, use and expand existing checklists, write run books for other organizations and participate in peer reviews. Come prepared to provide examples of your documentation!On the technology side, your role will include architecture and engineering all of the infrastructure components (Converged and Hyper Converged)in the technology stack. Linux skills (administration and troubleshooting) and Virtualization technologies expertise is a must, desired skills would be in the networking (routing, firewalls, VPN) and Storage. Candidates must have the ability to directly manipulate these components, as well as automate processes that can deploy and support these components.Neustar is a highly automated environment. We write software to do anything that needs to be done more than twice. Candidates must be fluent with at least one automation language and comfortable writing software that connects to third party APIs.Come prepared to discuss your proudest piece of code!Neustar employees are expected to be versatile, continually expanding their skills and learning new technologies. * 5+ years of experience working with Linux OS and hardware infrastructure * Experience in the design and engineering of Converged infrastructure and Hyper converged infrastructure * Expertise in the Virtualization technology stack (VMware, KVM,Openstack) and * Strong automation background, capacity/performance management, high availability * Strong Storage technology background * Strong experience in the Containers, Public, private and hybrid Cloud management platform experience. * Good understanding of Networking is highly desirable * Excellent documentation and Good communication skills * Change Management, Incident and problem management, RCA experience * Ability to execute best practices for making changes to customer facing services.Neustar Infrastructure team strives to be a metrics driven organization. We build trending for our hardware and software, develop capacity plans and build predictive alerts that notify us of upcoming issues before the customers are impacted. Everyone is pushed to continually improve the monitoring of our platforms. Candidates must be able to build monitors that respond to data pulled from component utilization, logs, SNMP traps and databases. Experience building synthetic transaction monitors is a big bonus. Experience with Splunk, graphite or Nagios is a bonus. Come prepared to discuss your monitoring strategies!We have found that the most successful candidates have 10-15 years of experience in system administration and software engineering. These candidates have a graduate or post-graduate degree in a STEM field and have experience with SDLC, ITIL and Agile methodologies.
