Wells Fargo Asset Management (WFAM) is seeking a Systematic Fixed Income Researcher within the large and successful fixed income business at WFAM. This role would primarily focus on the development of active and passive systematic strategies across WFAM's fixed income platform. A successful candidate will have the talent, drive and entrepreneurial spirit to help the team develop new and innovative investment products. He/She will work with the team to facilitate the development and implementation of new systematic investment strategies and also enhance existing systematic models. He/she will also effectively collaborate with other fundamental and systematic investment teams across WFAM to broaden investment capabilities.
Responsibilities and Expectations :
Work as part of a small, entrepreneurial team looking to design and develop new and innovative investment products.
Primary responsibility is to assist in the design and development of active and passive quantitative fixed income investment strategies.
Conducts quantitative analysis and valuation modeling to assist in determining risk and valuation factors primarily at the security level. Scope will be broad, to include US corporate credit, muni credit and international credits.
Assist in building and refining econometric and quantitative models.
Identify new investment insights, leverage investment platform and senior research team to rigorously research these insights to determine their efficacy and orthogonality to existing insights in the products. Seek out new sources of data to support this effort.
Design and develop analysis and monitoring tools to achieve best practices in all aspects of the investment process (research, portfolio management, trading and attribution).
Work in collaboration with other research analysts, including those from fundamental credit research teams and quantitative equity teams.
Perform ad hoc analysis for fixed income portfolio management and strategy teams, including applied research into benchmark construction and client portfolio analysis.

Other Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science or other quantitative discipline
Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality empirical research. Relevant experience working with large datasets, quantitative model development and statistical hypothesis testing
Strong understanding of fixed income markets, including drivers of return, risk control and portfolio construction techniques
Excellent quantitative skills, as evidenced by formal training in econometrics or statistics, and extensive experience in utilizing those skills in a research environment
Passion for sourcing and leveraging large datasets to develop new insights about financial markets
Strong understanding of computer technology in financial research, with proficiency in programming (Python/R/Matlab), statistical analysis and numerical techniques
Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking
Excellent teamwork - work cooperatively and effectively in a small team with other researchers and portfolio managers in a fast paced environment
