System Software Engineer, Capture Responsibilities

  • Develop high-performance software to collect data from sensors in our capture system.

  • Develop methods to verify sensors are behaving properly and returning high quality data.

  • Support and evaluate device hardware, software, and firmware updates.

  • Develop robust processes for testing capture system changes prior to pushing to live servers.

  • Collaborate with vendors to troubleshoot hardware issues.

  • Collaborate with our user studies team to understand common failure cases, ascertain root causes, and improve the data capture experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 4+ years of C++ experience, including Modern C++ features and techniques.

  • 2+ years of experience with low-level software development, such as drivers or firmware.

  • Proven track record of shipping software.

  • Experience with software development practices such as source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging and profiling.

  • Experience with Linux and command line utilities.

  • Experience developing GUI applications.

  • Collaborator with effective communication skills across teams of varying knowledge of components.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cameras and optical systems, lighting systems, and audio systems.

  • Experience with Qt library.

  • Experience with 0MQ.

  • Experience with Python.

  • Experience with Networking.

  • Experience developing and managing large scale-distributed systems.

Job Description This role can be remote/work from home though preference will be given to candidates that reside within the eastern part of the US as they will need to visit our facility in Pittsburgh, PA at least monthly. Job Summary: The Systems Software Engineer will work with multiple project teams to develop system level software architecture for the integration and display of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) detector data through networks. They will be responsible for all software architecture compliance with FLIR software requirements and DoD requirements for sensor architectures and software modularity. This role will be required to work in DoD's suite of 'Tactical Awareness Kits', including ATAK, WinTAK, and other future versions of the TAK software. Familiarity with strategies supporting Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2), SIGMA+ operations is preferred. The position may entail program management and will involve coordination with subcontractors and collaboration with project and program management teams, as well as the science and engineering groups and Government research and development customers. Job Duties & Responsibilities: * Software system architecture design. * Work with subcontractors performing software development tasks. * Develop software that complies with DoD Modular Software architecture (MOSA). * Develop software that is compliant with DoD Integrated Sensor Architecture (ISA). * Work to design and optimize graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for software on sensors and desktop, and mobile device applications. * Program management tasks either directly or through support tasks as a contributor within a group. Job Qualifications: * Applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce. * BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent required, MS or PhD in Computer Science preferred. * Minimum 5 years relevant experience in System software application development required, 10+ years of relevant experience is preferred. * Experience in C#/.NET, C++, C, WPF, WCF. * Comfortable with multi-threaded programming and debugging. * Experience working in Tactical Awareness Kit suite. * Entity framework/SQL experience. * Solid understanding of software security practices. * Experience with communications protocols and embedded software architectures. * Familiarity with DoD Data Strategy, MILSTD specifications and cybersecurity requirements. * Possess or ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance preferred. * Experience with mobile development, particularly Android and Windows preferred. * Experience with Python preferred. * Experience with embedded software tools preferred. * Experience working on a small Agile development team preferred. * Experience with Unity 3D engine and multi-sensor integration and data fusion preferred. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven analytical and problem solving skills. * High energy, proactive orientation; comfortable in a dynamic, entrepreneurial atmosphere. * Very high mathematics aptitude.
