Job Summary
The System Risk and Patient Safety Project Manager is responsible for helping to identify, assess, monitor, and report on changes in the system-wide risk and patient safety program. Responsibilities include tracking events reported in the daily safety huddles that occur throughout the system; ongoing tracking and monitoring of corrective actions following root cause analyses and apparent cause analysis; and participating in stakeholder meetings to capture changes in the business environment, communicate corrective actions, escalate issues, and ensure accountability of action plans. In this role, the System Risk and Patient Safety Project Manager will have an opportunity to interact with senior hospital leaders and play a critical role in implementing and maintaining a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
Use project management expertise to drive projects to an on time, on budget, deployment.
Implement best practice project management approaches and tools to ensure the highest level of confidence in evaluation of project progress.
Act as a leader to align teams and business partners in transformational efforts to ensure project performance goals are met across the System in an efficient manner and bring barriers and challenges requiring the attention of senior leaders to the attention of the appropriate individuals, as necessary.
Collaborate with Asante project management assets to ensure the standardized usage of effective project management process, practice and tools and the effective division of labor.
Analysis Support
Utilize the project management toolkit or enhance current tools to effectively meet project objectives. Tools include but are not limited to impact analysis, risk analysis, scope definition, stakeholder analysis, work breakdown structure, project timelines, change control analysis, issues log, close out documentation, status reports, etc.
Establish system-level system for daily safety huddles and corrective action plans; establish roles and responsibilities and educate team on the process to follow, objectives, communication plan, expectations, etc.
Present project information to system-level committees, escalates issues appropriately, provide recommendations, and develop timelines that are in line with strategic objectives.
Risk Management and Patient Safety
Provide risk services under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer and Director of Asante Risk Management and in alignment with Asante's strategic goals.
Work collaboratively with the Risk Analysts to understand RCAs/ACAs and may assist in review of potential risk issues which include assessing the need for focused review by department leaders, and/or clinical chairpersons for peer reviews, collects evidence, documents, and files as incidents occur.
Develop tracking for corrective action plans, ensure that key stakeholders are accountable to actions on corrective action plans, and escalate concerns to senior leadership.
Prepares monitoring of corrective action plan reporting to system and hospital entity level reporting at various committees (e.g., ARRMC QSOC).
Position Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum 4 years of relevant project management experience is required.
Technical understanding of healthcare operations, finance, human resources, quality and risk management and alignment with changing healthcare requirements and initiatives also required.
