Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a job opportunity for a full time System Problem/Improvement Report (SPIR) Writer/Installation and Check-Out (INCO) Parts Manager in San Diego, CA.

The SPIR Writer/INCO Parts Manager will support the execution of overhauls and modernization of U.S. Navy Ships.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support surface ship availabilities for DDG-51 ship class.

  • Writes shipboard System Problem/Improvement Reports (SPIR).

  • Utilizes government owned SPIR database on a daily basis.

  • Interfaces with Government personnel to track and monitor the resolution of SPIRs.

  • Provides weekly SPIR reports and holds SPIR review meetings with on-site personnel (ISEA, Test coordinator, Ships Force, etc).

  • Tracks INCO (installation and checkout spares) and supporting parts for ship availability.

  • Provides a biweekly INCO inventory/shipping status report;

  • Provides notification to PM within 24 hrs. when INCO levels drop below prescribed insurance level;

  • Receives replenishments/Ships defective material to OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or LBES (Land Based Engineering Site) for evaluation or/repair.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED.

  • Current OSHA Safety training certification.

  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy DDG-51 Class ships and Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical (HM&E) systems.

  • Must have exceptional communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Must be able to work well alone and as part of a team.

  • SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: A DoD ACTIVE SECRET clearance is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years experience providing shipboard SPIR coordination support for ships undergoing maintenance availabilities, including the utilization of SPIR tracking spreadsheets or databases.

  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy organizations, functional missions, environment and programs.

  • US Navy experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.

Will be responsible for the following duties: * Ship checks of the combat systems equipment and related support systems equipment. * Provide assistance / resolution to Engineering Groups (Lockheed Martin, Government, Shipyards, and other Government Contractors) related to equipment installation and design issues. * Troubleshoot technical problems and issues, determine technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommend actions to company or customer representatives for product solution. * Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications, and provide recommendations to project managers. Conducts installation briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. * Oversee and ensure Quality Assurance for the shipboard installation of combat systems equipment. * Conduct inspections of combat system equipment and cabling during installation to identify problems and provide solutions. * Install equipment ORDALT upgrades and remove products ensuring engineering field change completion on AEGIS Weapon System. * Act as local on-site representative to customer organization. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Position requires 60% or more travel to Moorestown, NJ; San Diego, CA; Mayport, FL; Bath, ME; Pascagoula, MS; Pearl Harbor, HI; Yokosuka, Japan; Rota, Spain. This position requires shift work, brief at-sea periods and periodic travel supporting fleet emergent requirements and equipment installation events or issues. The position will require working flex hours, overtime, and on occasion weekends and holidays. Basic Qualifications: Ability to read and comprehend production drawings. Ability to read and comprehend military specifications for electrical and optical cable, connectors and backshells, and system design, integration and integrity testing. Familiarity or prior experience with leading installation teams in an industrial environment. Ability to work safely in an industrial environment, wear applicable PPE, and climb shipboard or drydock ladders. Good verbal and written communication skills, strong initiative characteristics, and exceptional teaming skills. Ability to work in a diverse corporate / cultural team environment. Candidate will interface daily with Government Customers, Shipyards, State and local safety officials, Regional Maintenance Centers, and USN Ships' force. Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. Desired Skills: BS in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred. Prior experience as an installation engineer in ship repair facilities or equivalent industrial environments. Prior experience with Alteration Installation Team (AIT) installation and/or testing of BMD 3.6 and 4.0 upgrades on AEGIS CG and DDG class ships. Prior experience with equipment engineering change installation (Field Changes, Engineering Changes, ORDALTs, SHIPALTs, Field Modification Bulletins) Prior operational experience in the AEGIS Fleet, or prior USN experience interacting with AITs during upgrades/repair. Knowledge of Military Specifications and Standards related to bonding and grounding of equipment on Navy Ships, MIL-STD-1310, MIL -STD-1399, MIL-STD-901D (shock), and ship cooling systems/components.
