Role Overview

This position manages a large mid-size (8-15) team of both experienced professionals and team leaders in Systems Engineering. Develops total systems solutions with a short to medium-term focus. Directs key activities, manages budget and key performance targets, and plans for more effective utilization of human and material resources to achieve operational objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designs and manages complex seating and First Class Suite engineering systems over their life cycles.

  • Establishes plans and strategies for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects

  • Coordinates system and control and other engineering disciplines, organizational studies, and project management.

  • Manages teams collecting and analyzing customer specifications and system level requirements, decomposing into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generating verification criteria and plans for the requirements.

  • Establishes operating budgets, monitors the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that business objectives are met.

  • Recommend investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's projects

  • Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

  • Considers and evaluates alternatives accounting for similar metrics.

  • Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Performs architectural exploration.

  • Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
