Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) in Marlborough, MA is seeking an experienced systems engineer to join our team developing the next generation air traffic control, communications and weather systems for civil and military customers around the world. The systems engineering responsibilities span from requirements definition through the entire product lifecycle, including systems integration and test.

This position is for a Systems Engineer who will perform in a technical leadership role in system and subsystem requirements development, system level design, and support to software development, system level integration and test. Regular duties include participating in requirements and design discussions and reviews, producing requirements artifacts, characterizing system performance, developing test plans and procedures, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and communicating with customers. Experience or knowledge of en-route and/or terminal control systems, such as ARTS/CARTS, STARS, ERAM, SWIM, or ASDE is a plus, as is familiarity with customer communities, standards and future initiatives, such as: Euro control, ICAO, Single European Sky, Nextgen ATMS and Weather Systems, and trajectory and flow management.

This position requires interaction with internal and external customers.

Clearance Requirements:

Must be a U.S. CITIZEN with the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Required Skills:

  • Ten (10) years of demonstrated experience in systems engineering and test, software engineering, platform engineering or related engineering discipline on a large government system/software development contracts.

  • Demonstrated full knowledge of other related disciplines

  • Proven experience as key spokesperson on program's technical capabilities and future directions

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels in an organization and across functions

  • Experience with project management approaches and tools

  • Demonstrated interest and success in improving systems engineering execution via "hands on" activities on programs

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the following systems engineering functions:

  • Requirements development and management

  • System architecture

  • System design

  • Interface definition and control

  • Development and management of Technical Performance Measures (TPM)

  • Subsystem/System integration and test

  • System integration

  • System verification and validation

  • Configuration management

  • Proven knowledge of systems engineering measures and metrics and experiencing applying results to improve program performance

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven experience providing status briefings to customers and senior leadership

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools, particularly Excel, Project, and PowerPoint

  • Able to occasionally work overtime and weekends as required to achieve milestones

  • Ability to the identify, manage, and mitigate technical risk

  • Knowledge of development lifecycle models (waterfall and Agile) and program lifecycle models

  • Able to travel as needed to support program and business goals

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of or experience with Agile (Safe) development lifecycle

  • Knowledge of or experience with DevOPS

  • Qualified Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist or equivalent

  • Experience developing DoDAF architecture artifacts

  • Experience in CONOPS / OPSCON development, especially in workflow related area to this domain

  • Experience with the development of obsolescence plans and COTS/FOSS Management

  • Strong understanding of EPIC or similar enterprise engineering processes

Education Requirements:

Ten (10) years of relevant experience with a BS/BA in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math or related technical degree; Eight (8) years with a Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math or related technical degree.
