The System Director is responsible for overseeing diversity, patient care civil rights and language services for Lee Health. This leader provides visionary and strategic leadership, building awareness, creating access, promoting cultural understanding, and inspiring health equity for all people in the community.
Ensures Lee Health is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Section 1557 of the Patient Protection of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and any other Federal and State nondiscrimination laws relating to patient care which includes, but is not limited to, promoting a diverse and inclusive environment that is free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, sex, gender identity or disability in certain health programs and activities. The System Director will establish and implement appropriate governance and Civil Rights grievance procedures. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing patient care services investigations for alleged discriminatory action, the written decision as a result of the investigation and grievance appeals.
Serves as an expert advisor on diversity and discrimination issues for Human Resources. Provides guidance, education and training to staff on caring for diverse patient populations and diversity and inclusion values in the workplace Serves as an expert advisor and liaison between Lee Health leaders, clinicians, employees, physicians, and volunteers to ensure that reasonable efforts are made to provide qualified interpretative services or other methods of communication with foreign language speaking, blind, visually impaired, deaf, or hard of hearing persons and / or any individual who needs interpretive services to understand or communicate his / her healthcare needs throughout Lee Health. Develops system-wide diversity and interpretation services policies and procedures that meet regulatory and governmental requirements.
Responsible for hiring, orientating, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance for staff interpreters. Supports the organization in continuing to understand differences and the richness diversity and inclusion brings to Lee Health. Conducts ongoing organizational assessments and develops training programs in alignment with the organizations strategy of health equity, population health management, healthy communities, compliance, culturally proficient workforce, corporate social responsibility and inclusive leadership.
