Cobham is seeking a System Design Engineer that Designs, defines and implements complex system requirements for customers and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems. Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions. This position is located in Concord, CA.
Reviews all system or product proposals from Sales and obtains engineering approval to proceed when appropriate.
Identifies appropriate system components for each customer request and creates cables and harnesses to connect.
Generates System Block Diagrams and System Schematics.
Conducts and/or supervises functional and performance tests on all new models of existing product lines.
Participates in development of test procedures for all new products.
Maintains model matrices.
Must adhere to and support the company's Safety Health & Environmental (SHE) program

The work environment is in an office setting. However, some time will be spent in an open factory environment. On the factory floor the temperature fluctuates relative to the outdoor weather do to large roll up doors in constant use. There is some excessive noise on the production floor. The immediate work area has no caustic chemicals or fumes.
Light travel (1-3 times per year) may be required.

Bachelor's Degree in Science, electronics, systems, etc.
7-10 years of experience as a system design engineer.
Experience reading data sheets and understand and design systems diagrams and schematics to develop new solution.
Experience and expert level understanding of Radio Frequencies gains, bandwidth, etc.
Experience with connectors, cabling, and shielding (IEC60956).
This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Telecommunication, satellite, VSAT antenna, lock up converter experience.
Presentation/Client facing skills.
