The Truck Technology software group is responsible for electronics and controls for Daimler Truck vehicles across the globe. We create hardware and software solutions to realize customer requirements and make Daimler Truck vehicles safer, more user friendly and more capable. The Daimler Truck Operating System department in the Truck Technology group works globally to expand the capabilities of Daimler Trucks hardware and software architecture to enable rapid development of future technology. By working with cross-functional groups worldwide, we implement future oriented solutions for the entire Daimler Truck vehicle portfolio.
The successful candidate will represent Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) in the global Daimler Trucks Operating System project team. By aligning with local stakeholders, you will ensure that DTNA's requirements, from vehicle to backend, are fulfilled. Additionally, you will develop end-to-end technical concepts to support the growing demands of Daimler Truck's future vehicle portfolio.
Responsibilities: Develop end-to-end concepts for next generation vehicle architectures by interfacing with product management and product development colleagues
Develop requirements toward future vehicle architectures by defining vehicle functionality unique to Daimler Trucks North America
Develop proof of concepts with suppliers and development partners to answer key questions throughout the concept development phase of the project
Develop proof of concepts with backend software engineers to ensure state of the art connected solutions
Develop concepts for lifecycle management of hardware and software solutions including, but not limited to manufacturability and serviceability
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science required
Extensive experience in automotive product development required
Extensive experience in automotive ECU development required
Experience with automotive software development required
Experience with automotive CAN and Ethernet networks required
Extensive experience with vehicle IT systems required
Experience with software development using C++ or Java required
Experience with Agile development required
Proficiency in collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence required
Ability to lead large, ambiguous projects with little direction required
Ability to interface effectively with internal stakeholder and suppliers required
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment required
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks on hand required
Demonstrated strong written and verbal skills required
Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others via collaboration and good teamwork skills required
Demonstrated strategic foresight, ability to anticipate questions/next steps required
