FINANCE/IT DEPARTMENT
Under direction, the purpose of the position is to design, program and maintain efficient and effective import, export, reporting and storage operation of the City's database. Employees in this classification function at journey professional level, and are responsible for installing and configuring database related software applications. Performs related work as directed.
Examples of Duties
Monitors, maintains, upgrades and configures data software equipment and applications to ensure uninterrupted service and efficient performance of data base technologies.
Designs, develops and maintains various spreadsheets, documents, graphs and reports to facilitate organized databases and files of employee and organization records.
Coordinates the installation and maintenance of record keeping and communications software, hardware and auxiliary equipment; maintains open communication with all departmental management and employees for the dissemination of information regarding database issues.
Researches, analyzes and repairs routine to complex technical issues for various documentation and records keeping programs; maintains software to ensure continuous communications between network users and servers.
Researches, analyzes and submits recommendations for software/hardware development, enhancement, replacement or purchase.
Analyzes software to ensure security, integrity and accuracy of records.
Consults with software vendors and company support desks for product research, dissemination of information and problem resolution with existing software and communications equipment.
Provides technical support of systems and databases for employees; responds to escalated requests to resolve efficiency issues for all departments.
Trouble shoots and performs minor repairs to various computer and electronic equipment.
ADDITIONAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
NEW HIRE INCENTIVE
up to 10% of the minimum of the new hire employees' position paygrade.
Bachelor's Degree in Database Software Applications, Computer Science or related field; supplemented by three (3) to four (4) years progressively responsible experience in AS/400 operations and the installation, maintenance and repair of data software applications; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Employee shall obtain CJIS Level 4 training to be completed within six (6) months of employment.
Current and Valid Florida Driver's License.
Employee shall obtain the National Incident Management System ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System and IS-700 National Incident Management System, An Introduction within six (6) months of employment. The following courses are designed to provide a baseline, as they introduce basic NIMS and ICS concepts and provide the foundation for higher-level Emergency Operations Center (EOC), MACS, and ICS related training.

Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and programming of database services; considerable knowledge of technical software/hardware systems and operations.
Skill in accessing, operating, maintaining and repairing various software applications and hardware equipment.
Skill in configuring and installing personal computers, software applications and hardware equipment.
Ability to learn and implement new technological software, hardware and concepts to data server applications.
Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management and software/hardware vendors.
Ability to perform duties with a professional and cooperative work ethic; ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently, and exercise initiative in planning and organization of daily operations to resolve routine Information Systems problems.
Ability to work for extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Some tasks require visual abilities. Some tasks require oral communications ability.
