CGI Federal is looking for a System Administrator/Engineer to support hosting and operations data center services for one of our valued federal client. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing the installation, configuration and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth, reliable, and efficient operation of the application across all environments (development, testing, validation, and production). The System Administrator/Engineer is also required to work closely with other system administrators/engineers and DBA team members, application developers, business users, infrastructure support teams and upper management to provide system expertise for existing project and production support for existing application. The ideal candidate will poses strong written and verbal communication skills, a demonstrated commitment to customer service and quality delivery, and must demonstrate the ability to meet the operational requirements of a complex process-driven environment.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with other system administrators/engineers and DBA team members, application developers, business users, infrastructure support teams and upper management to provide system expertise for existing project and production support for existing application.

  • Support and collaborate with the Application Development team to deploy the application code between environments.

  • Install, configure, administer and upgrade patches related to performance and security concerns, and actively monitor WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment (WASND) environments

  • Possess a thorough understanding of WebSphere Application Server Clustering for High Availability

  • Responsible for programming and documenting system utilities with Bash/Korn Shell, Jython/Jacl programming languages

  • Responsible for possessing and developing a detailed understanding of J2EE standards, JDBC configuration, JNDI Directory Services, SOAP and WebServices

  • Performance tuning WAS, pooling, queuing , heap size and optimizing other JVM parameters

  • Ensure and provide maximum system availability and uptime for our WebSphere environments

  • Monitor, track, and analyze the trending and tuning of the WebSphere environments including trouble shooting of WAS environments such as analyzing Trace Logs, FFDC, Native logs, Java core, Heap dumps

  • Maintain system integrity and security by following CMS security standards

  • WMQ / WMB System Management and administration, such as performance, patching, logging, backup, recovery and health checking

  • Perform day-to-day system administration of the WMQ / Message Broker

  • Set up new WMQ / Message Broker, Clustering and Load Balancing

  • Provide Support to application team on WMQ / Message Broker related activities

  • Provide WMQ / Message Broker performance Support

  • Provide WMQ / Message Broker problem determination and problem resolution support for application activities.

  • Develop and deploy scripts for WMQ / Message Broker Administration Activities

  • Provide support to deploy and promote Informatica Worflows to multiple environments

  • Manage multiple high-profile, complex production applications and implement changes involving multiple teams with minimal disruption to end users

  • May be required to provide on-call support during the peak load of project delivery

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

  • Ideally having 5 years of hands on experience in managing application components on Linux/Sun Solaris OS. Experience should include installing, configuring WebSphere application Server, J2EE standards, JDBC configuration, JNDI Directory Services, SOAP and WebServices.

  • Operating system experience in Sun Solaris and Linux.

  • Good problem solver, focused and dedicated developer with ability to work on your own as well as with a team.

  • Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting application integration issues.

  • Configuring datasource integration from application servers to relational databases

  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with developers, management, vendors, and clients

Nice to Have:

  • AWS/Google Cloud experience

  • DevOps experience

  • Experience in Jenkins, Splunk, Docker, and New Relic

  • 3-zone architecture
