This System Administrator role is accountable for the administration of critical software applications within key business units of the credit union. The incumbent will collaborate with our First Mortgages department to enhance efficiency within their systems. Prior experience with First Mortgages is preferred. Essential Functions

  • Implements, supports, upgrades and maintains assigned business applications.

  • Monitors designated applications and takes corrective action to prevent or minimize system down time.

  • Troubleshoots to resolve system related problems; coordinates with relevant internal resources and/or third party vendors regarding user support and problem resolution.

  • Provides second tier support to users having difficulties with designated applications.

  • Creates and maintains related documentation and may train personnel as needed on assigned software applications.

  • Serves as a technical expert on designated applications and participates as a team member on internal special projects as needed.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a broad range of users that are both technical and non-technical.

  • Applies knowledge of current technology and business trends. Stays current on emerging technologies and financial institution trends in order to aid in the integration, testing and deployment designated applications.

  • Actively participates in vendor webinars, conferences and online communities. Informs internal stakeholders of upcoming changes to designated applications and leads the application change process.

  • Leads and participates in efforts to develop and implement processes for application security and monitoring.

  • Understands and is accountable for executing all job functions in a way that is consistent with all requirements of BSA, OFAC and the USA Patriot Act/Customer Identification Act (CIP). Note: Failure to comply with requirements may be subject to strong disciplinary action, up to and including termination by the credit union, as well as, civil and criminal penalties.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Finance and a minimum of one to three years of applicable professional experience or a minimum of four years applicable professional experience and a technical certification.

  • Experience working in the financial industry with an understanding of banking terminology, processes and related concepts is a plus.

  • Expertise working with retail financial software applications a plus.

  • Critical thinking skills to be able to break down projects and assignments to fully understand their scope, dependencies and business value. Ability to then develop methodologies for successful implementation of said projects and assignments.

  • Strong technical acumen and ability to troubleshoot and solve major, complex problems.

  • Highly detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis; good interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.

  • Professional, well-developed verbal and written communication skills essential for positive interactions with employees and members.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of team.

  • Demonstrated solid understanding of software applications and application architectures. Proven track record of managing and administering applications. Demonstrated ability to master new or proprietary applications.

  • Understanding of Project Management and ITIL Methodologies.

  • Technical writing or documentation experience.

  • Experience configuring and maintaining software interfaces.

  • Knowledge of the following.

  • Financial systems and core banking applications. Experience working with Episys from Symitar is a plus.

  • Java, .net, ASP.NET, XML. Experience programming with PowerOn is a plus.

  • Microsoft SQL and other relational databases

  • Microsoft Windows operating systems

  • Microsoft Office products

  • Data mining and reporting tools

  • Disaster recovery and business continuity best practices
