TITLE: System Administrator- Data Center Technology
REPORTS TO: IT Manager- Data Center Technology
DESCRIPTION: The primary role of the System Administrator- Data Center Technology is to ensure the high availability, performance, and scalability of all data center technology services for the organization. Data center technologies include server, storage, networking and associated software that is installed and operational at both the primary and disaster recovery data centers for Dean McGee Eye Institute. It also includes the platforms and methods for provisioning, installing, patching and maintaining all data center services.
Responsibilities Include:
In coordination with the other IT staff, develop and implement strategies and services to deliver world class services to DMEI providers, surgeons, researchers and staff.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert for the following technologies:
Physical Host Servers
Enterprise Storage Appliances
High-Availability and Fault Tolerance
VMWare ESXi / VCenter
Data Center UPS
Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, and NetScalar
Microsoft Active Directory Administration
Crowdstrike End Point Security
User account and group administration
Microsoft 365 Administration
Serve as escalation point for IT Service Desk staff
Implement policies and procedures related to data center technologies
Lead, coordinate, and participate in key IT process improvements
Assist in purchase, procurement, and configuration of data center technology devices and software
Provide network troubleshooting and support
Requirements:
Supervisory Experience:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
The System Administrator will primarily work in an office setting but may be required to walk to other areas of the clinic and may be exposed to contagious illnesses due to patient interactions.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position working primarily daytime hours Monday through Friday; however, some evening and weekend work may be necessary on occasion.
