System Administrator Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install & configure software and hardware

  • Manage network servers & technology tools

  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements

  • Troubleshoot issues and outages

  • Ensure security through access controls, backups & policies

  • Build an internal knowledge base with technical documentation, manuals & IT policies

  • Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, & intranet systems

  • Maintain network and system security, including integrity of the network, and server deployment

  • Ensure network connectivity throughout company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations

  • Maintain network servers such as file servers, and VPN gateways

  • Ensure compatibility and stability of a core set of standard applications

  • Maintain, and replace as required a set of corporate approved servers providing services

  • Administer servers, software deployment, security updates and patches

  • Ensure backups of critical data and notify users when data will not be backed up

  • Maintain Suite of Business Applications (Gitlab, ProPricer, etc.)

  • Maintain Virtual Private Network (OpenVPN) access for employee remote access to servers

  • Maintain Voice over IP and Public Branch Exchange phone systems (Asterisk, Switchvox)

  • Manage accounts and access controls

  • Ensure system / host security for unclassified employee systems & servers

  • Assist end users with technical requests and issues

System Administrator Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role

  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management

  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery

  • Ability to create scripts in Bash, PowerShell, Python, Perl or other languages

  • Experience with Linux and Microsoft Operating Systems 2008 to 2016

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365

  • Experience with VMware 6.x

  • Experience with iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS

  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude

  • Excellent communication skills

Provide ongoing review of regulatory requirements, TJC Standards, changing laws and legal precedents in order to review hospital regulations and make necessary recommendations for changes to ensure compliance with current VA, VHA, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and TJC Standards. Review quality assessment findings, risk management evaluations and malpractice claim actions to ensure appropriate coordination with the credentials and privileging function of the credentials committee of the medical staff regarding individual provider clinical privileges. Serve as subject matter expert in the field of credentials and clinical privileging, keeps management group, hospital staff, and appropriate administrative staff informed of program changes, new regulatory requirements policies and procedures pertaining to the credentialing and privileging process. Assist in drafting local credentialing policies and Medical Staff Bylaws in compliance with all applicable regulations. Incumbent receives and reviews both sensitive and non-sensitive correspondence for the credentials function; triages correspondence and communications to determine which items require immediate attention and which are confidential in nature. Receive and reviews daily reports detecting problem areas requiring further investigation. Ensures current information is present on providers relative to state licensure, documentation of professional education and specialty medical training, renewal of privileges and adverse actions which may affect the status of privileges granted for medical practice; informs Clinical Leadership of trends identified, audit results and identified problems that may affect a provider's privilege status. Incumbent manages provider applications (initial and renewals) for the credentialing and privileging within the facility. Incumbent must have a broad knowledge of medical specialties and core privileges and is the technical advisor to clinical leadership for the development of hospital and department specific privileges and assures that complete documentation is available to support privileges granted to providers within their training and/or experience. Incumbent provides guidance and instruction to hospital staff in completing the required documentation of establishing privileges for Healthcare providers.
