The System Administrator II is responsible for the planning and coordination of updates, enhancements, and expansions of servers, storage (SAN), backups, and email. The position also manages and monitors corporate hardware and cloud environments; develops technical enhancements, solutions, and efficiencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and monitors system assets, limiting focus to servers, storage (SAN), and core infrastructure applications, including VMware, Commvault, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows Server, and Microsoft Active Directory.

  • Plans and coordinates the updates, enhancements, or expansions of infrastructure assets listed above.

  • Coordinates with outside vendors and resellers, any necessary maintenance or service of servers, storage, and cloud applications.

  • Provides key input into the development and implementation of related policies and standards.

  • Assists in the development of solutions and efficiencies to address issues that have been identified in other business units.

  • Meets with business units and IT associates to define issues and develops solutions and efficiencies to address identified issues.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, general business correspondence and/or journals or government regulations.

  • Ability to write routine reports, procedures, and business correspondence.

  • Ability to read, write, analyze and comprehend simple instructions, financial reports and/or legal documents and business correspondence.

  • Ability to respond in writing to customer complaints, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and group situations, to managers, customers, clients, other employees in the organization, and the general public.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in computer science or a related field is required, or

  • Three to five years of work-related, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training.

  • Microsoft Server OS

  • Microsoft Active Directory

  • Microsoft Exchange/Exchange Online

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Enterprise Level Patch Management

  • VMware vCenter/ESXi

  • SAN administration

  • PowerShell

  • Windows Command Line

  • Ability to quickly master new IT processes and tools.

  • Ability to relay technical information in business terms.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills required to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation and analysis of data from diverse sources.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations

  • VCP, MCSA, MCSE, or a similar certification preferred

This role will be responsible for the design, configuration, integration, installation, maintenance and establishing processes for Middleware systems on Windows and UNIX platforms. Responsibilities o Installs, configures, integrates, maintains and troubleshoots Middleware tools, i.e WebSphere Application server, WebSphere/ActiveMQ server, CTG, Jboss EAP, Jetty, Tomcat, Apache HTTP server and IIS environments on Windows and UNIX platforms. o Establish workflows, automate and troubleshoot code deployment and release process using DevOps tools such (Jenkins, Maven, GIT, uDeploy, Nexus, Sonar etc.) and scripting languages (Shell scripting, Python, PowerShell, etc.) o Provides technical support to the application developers for the development, QA and production environments for a variety of business systems. o Interfaces and assists the development teams and other IT groups to gather the infrastructure and middleware requirements in the analysis, design and deployment of business solutions that utilize the Middleware platforms and automate systems using DevOps. o Serves as a liaison between the development teams and Infrastructure teams as it relates to the web based applications. o Effectively maintains all application servers by performing maintenance to include patching and upgrades as necessary. o Ensures application server security integrity by reviewing and implementing policies within the system. o Monitors availability of the application servers and optimizes configurations to provide appropriate performance and availability. o Develops and sets standards for supporting Middleware and DevOps. o Rotating On-Call for Production support. o Mentors less experienced team members. Requirements o 6 years of experience in Middleware Servers - WebSphere Application server, WebSphere/ActiveMQ, CTG, JBoss EAP, Jetty, Apache Tomcat and HTTP Server, IIS server. o 3 years' Experience in DevOps tools - Jenkins, Maven, Ant, GIT, SVN, uDeploy, etc. o Experience with general web technologies (webservers, load balancers, databases, ldap, http protocol, JAVA, html, SSL etc). o General scripting or coding experience. o Experience with DevOps tools and technologies. o JVM experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, general design principals. o Integrating application servers and MQ. o Developing, testing and maintaining business continuity strategies relating to the application server environment. o Experience in Websphere Application Server and WebSphere/ActiveMQ, JBoss EAP, Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTP Server, Jenkins and GIT, UNIX and Windows OS for troubleshooting, Scripting (Shell, Jython, and PowerShell), JAVA, J2EE, and JMS programming. o Knowledge of Content Management, like Adobe Experience Manager, a plus. o Knowledge of Cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure) and Containers (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) a plus. * Must be a U.S. Citizen, Green Card Holder, or hold other status that allows you to be employed in the United States on a W2 basis without having to be sponsored by your employer.
