The System Administrator II is responsible for the planning and coordination of updates, enhancements, and expansions of servers, storage (SAN), backups, and email. The position also manages and monitors corporate hardware and cloud environments; develops technical enhancements, solutions, and efficiencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and monitors system assets, limiting focus to servers, storage (SAN), and core infrastructure applications, including VMware, Commvault, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows Server, and Microsoft Active Directory.

  • Plans and coordinates the updates, enhancements, or expansions of infrastructure assets listed above.

  • Coordinates with outside vendors and resellers, any necessary maintenance or service of servers, storage, and cloud applications.

  • Provides key input into the development and implementation of related policies and standards.

  • Assists in the development of solutions and efficiencies to address issues that have been identified in other business units.

  • Meets with business units and IT associates to define issues and develops solutions and efficiencies to address identified issues.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, general business correspondence and/or journals or government regulations.

  • Ability to read, write, analyze and comprehend simple instructions, financial reports and/or legal documents and business correspondence.

  • Ability to respond in writing to customer complaints, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and group situations, to managers, customers, clients, other employees in the organization, and the general public.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in computer science or a related field is required, or

  • Three to five years of work-related, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training.

  • Microsoft Server OS

  • Microsoft Active Directory

  • Microsoft Exchange/Exchange Online

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Enterprise Level Patch Management

  • VMware vCenter/ESXi

  • SAN administration

  • PowerShell

  • Windows Command Line

  • Ability to quickly master new IT processes and tools.

  • Ability to relay technical information in business terms.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills required to find solutions to problems that are technically complex and require collection, interpretation and analysis of data from diverse sources.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations

  • VCP, MCSA, MCSE, or a similar certification preferred

This includes maintaining the integrity of weapons' system certified Mission Planning Environment software, configuration management, and technical support/troubleshooting. Jacobs is seeking a full time System Support Representative. The successful candidate will provide technical support, assistance, and maintain hardware/software configuration for Patriot Excalibur and/or related systems. Under certain circumstances, may be required to deploy with assigned units during peacetime and during armed hostilities in theater operations outside of the United States. Duties & Responsibilities: Work scope may include any/all of the following duties: * Support primary and secondary customers and may be required to support a multi-state region by performing updates, upgrades, maintenance, and disposition of hardware/software. * Analyze software, hardware, and system malfunctions, and implement corrective actions. * Deliver technical briefings for users of mission planning systems, software, and data (including classified and unclassified source data) as required. * Support unit needs during exercises, daily training, deployments, and real-world contingencies. Provide SSR support/expertise as requested by the Mission Planning Systems Support Facility. * This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities. Education Desired/Required: BS degree in a computer or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university and at least one (1) year of experience as a System Support Representative and five (5) years of relevant computer experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and certifications. Requires an active Top Secret/SCI Clearance at hire Experience Required: * Understanding of mission planning concepts and aircraft performance factors is required; crew experience is highly desired. * Understanding of airspace, airports, airways, and navigation aids. * Understanding of and ability to analyze/troubleshoot hardware, software, and Windows operating systems. * Knowledge of networking hardware/software over classified and unclassified government networks. * Understand mission planning system functions and external interfaces to include setup and teardown procedures. * Operational aircrew experience is desirable. Training & Certifications: * DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 (Security or equivalent) desired, required within six (6) months of hire * Optional: * A * Network * Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) * Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) * Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) * Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Guidelines (level of supervision required to perform): Must be able to work independently but within the framework established by the supervisor and/or customer. Complexity of tasks/responsibilities: * Must be able to identify and analyze important factors and conditions in order to recognize and apply an understanding of interrelationships, and anticipate customer need. * Must decide course of action based on analyses of the subjects and issues related to the assignments and select the appropriate course of action from acceptable alternatives. * Must be able to work independently and with minimal to no supervision Positions supervised: None U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Essential Functions Physical Requirements: Light- Work usually requires standing or walking to a significant degree.
