Ontic's Creedmoor, NC, site is home to a number of specialist companies within the Ontic Group, including Firstmark, Twin Commander, and Metro Merlin. With over 1,300 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace.

Our team is looking for a System Administrator II to join them. You will report to the Director of IT and will have an onsite work structure in Creedmoor, NC.

To be considered for the System Administrator II opening, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant technical schooling preferred.

  • Minimum four (4) years of hands-on experience with enterprise-level systems, network, and infrastructure administration.

  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting network switches and wireless access points.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining network, system, application, and service monitoring.

  • Experience administering Microsoft Azure AD and Office 365

  • PowerShell scripting knowledge

  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively, proactively, and independently to meet stakeholder needs and related IT deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail

  • Microsoft and Cisco certifications is a plus.

As a System Administrator II, you will:

  • Ensure integrity and security of enterprise data on host systems, following best practices regarding privacy, security, and compliance in a regulated environment.

  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, endpoints, and network infrastructure.

  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.

  • Perform daily monitoring of systems, services, and infrastructure to ensure data security, availability, performance, and integrity.

  • Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits for security and compliance.

  • Collaborate with other IT personnel and key stakeholders to improve existing processes.

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco VoIP and network infrastructure.

  • Manage and support Active Directory (AD), Azure AD, Office 365, and Microsoft Intune

  • Assist in the ongoing configuration and compliance of end-user hardware, software, and updates via Microsoft Intune

  • Provide all tiers of technical support, troubleshooting, diagnosis, problem resolution and maintenance.

  • Analyze, support, and administer existing Windows-based systems and provide troubleshooting strategies.

  • Ensure all hardware is under warranty and maintain warranty records.

  • Establish and maintain asset inventory for systems, infrastructure, and applications.

  • Establish a refresh cycle for hardware and upgrade cycle for software.

Salary Range:

  • $80,000- $95,000/year, based on experience.
