2 - Second Shift

The Systems Administrator I achieves high service levels by installing, securing, monitoring and troubleshooting operating systems, database management systems and other software. This role performs data backups and restorations, as well as defining and resolving system and hardware problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.

2.Manage setup, test and deploy applications including, but not limited to, Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), IT Service Management tool iTop application, VMware system, and virus software for all Vermeer-owned computers in a timely manner. Administer and assist with changes and additional functionality to track flow throughout the department.

3.Handle second level help desk calls regarding virus software. Responsible for providing monthly documentation. Troubleshoot and install software changes and new software packages.

4.Manage the software licenses of local, department and enterprise applications.

5.Plan, install and test operating systems, system upgrades and patches, system peripherals, utilities and other software.

6.Perform data backup, restoration and imaging to ensure no loss of data.

7.Manage the Group Policies for end user devices.

Education and/or Experience

  • 2-year college degree with a major in Computer Science or equivalent

  • Minimum 1 year related computer systems experience and/or training; and/or combination of education and experience.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of advanced complex computer hardware systems, along with application program integration concept and Microsoft Server.

  • Understanding of campus environment networking; knowledge of the Vermeer business systems, Vermeer campus network environment and the servers.

  • Ability to maintain server reliability as measured by total of all servers uptime.

  • Ability to perform assembly and installation of servers to mount in racks.

  • Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service; availability to be on-call for serious problems during off-shift hours is required, e.g., ability to respond within a 30-minute time frame when on-call.

  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships, which encourage openness with customers and peers; ability to develop interpersonal relationships with co-workers, staff, clients and the community to meet or exceed expectations.

  • Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstration of attention to detail and a high sense of accuracy; ability to create accurate, professional and error-free documents; ability to type and enter data accurately.

  • Demonstration of strong organizational skills; ability to work effectively under extreme stress; ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

Travel

Up to 5% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.

The Advancement Team includes personnel from alumni, development and communications and the work is largely focused on external relationships in support of the college. Essential Job Responsibilities: * Provide general support to the vice president including, but not limited to, calendar management, travel and itineraries, appointments, contact reports, presentations, team and direct report meetings and workflow, and some budget management. * Support committee work of the Board of Trustees including external affairs and the committee on trusteeship. * Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, reports, presentations, metrics, post materials to SharePoint Board portal. * Attend committee meetings, take minutes, orchestrate conference calls, and coordinate catering and room set up requests. * Track attendance and agenda item requests in accordance with committee charters. * Track action items. * Learn internal systems (example: Ellucian Colleague database) to support work of the Vice President and pull reports and data. * Engage with alumni, donors and guests with a spirit of hospitality during signature college events such as Homecoming and also personalized visits to campus. * Serve as team lead for identified special projects and donor events with oversight for logistics, planning, management and programming. * Draft proposals and manage donor portfolio work for the vice president, often in collaboration with the president's office. * Possess a welcoming persona with excellent customer service skills. * Provide appropriate attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to manage paper and electronic communication workflow. * Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for Advancement; this is a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
