Aquila Technology is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support an enterprise-wide Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). The right candidate will provide expert level, hands-on VMware Horizon View experience while supporting the VDI, including best-practice expertise to devise optimal configuration settings for the environment, VMware's User Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM), Application Volumes (App Vol), and a working knowledge of a Cisco HX Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI). They will also exhibit proficiency in creating, configuring, maintaining and supporting desktop images used within the VDI infrastructure, including desktop operating systems (Windows/Linux), the common suite of Microsoft applications (Microsoft Office to include O365), and other client specific software.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
Maintain an expert level of knowledge with the release of new versions of relevant VMWare tools and plan/scope upgrades with minimal user impact
Support on-site IT staff during update, upgrade and enhancement events
Develop and provide metrics to track systems status, performance, capacity, and forecasting system capacity requirements / improvements
Tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved
Ensure system and architectures are maintained, updated and upgraded as required from vendor recommendations and in alignment with organizational policy
Provide 2nd & 3rd level support to customers and other administrative staff in area of expertise. Respond to requests and resolve issues and problems using ticketing system.
Ensure all devices are under configuration management and remain current and up to date.
Monitor performance metrics and log data for continuous improvement and tuning.
Evaluate of new tools, services or products as well as changes to existing products and services.
Participate in development and maintenance of security infrastructure roadmap.
Develop, publish, and maintains system documentation (e.g. Requirements, Design/Build, Testing, and SOP) according to department standards.
Participate in department projects and policy/procedure writing as needed.
This is not an infrastructure position only supporting virtualized server environments, specific VDI skillsets are required.
Expertise with VMware Horizon View environment including Connection Servers, pools, vCenter, thin/zero clients utilizing the Just-in-time architecture desktop pools, including but not limited to:
Using VMware's Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM) for user profile management
Using App Volumes to virtualize their clinical and office applications
Knowledge of ESX cluster running on a Cisco HX HCI cluster
Expert ability to install, configure, optimize, and maintain VMware Horizon View
Expert hands-on administration experience with VMware tools including ESX, ESXi/vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, DRS, vRealize Operations Manager and other virtualization technologies and concepts.
Strong fundamental knowledge of Active Directory Administration, GPOs
Strong network skills (e.g. routing, switching and TCP/IP protocol)
Deep understanding of VMware core components, their relationship to storage and networking, and a proficiency in datacenter design methodologies.
Strong foundational skills in organizing and managing technical projects
Document processes and procedures.
Excellent customer service skills and exceptional customer facing skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Experience with VDI Assessment Tools such as Liquidware Stratusphere
Scripting experience, as well as experience with task automation.
Qualifications and Background:
MS OR BS and at least one certification
At least 8 years of applicable experience.
Willing to go through an extensive background investigation.
