The System Administrator's role is to manage and tune in-house computer systems and network connections to ensure a high level of availability and security of the supported hospital applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
The System Administrator will participate in and support capacity planning with development of long term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end users and department managers. This individual will coordinate with network engineering, business application and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives. The System Administrator will also deploy the following to include but not limited to servers (physical and virtual), SAN systems, host security systems, firewalls, switches/routers, workstations, thin clients, printers and scanners.
Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience (see below) in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or other computer related field OR Associates degree with 3 years of experience (see below) in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science or other computer related field OR No formal education with 4 years of experience (see below) working within an enterprise Information Technology related environment as a Systems Administrator.
Experience working within an enterprise Information Technology related environment as a Systems Administrator that encompasses extensive hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting; documenting and maintaining configuration and process information. Experience with various desktop and server operating systems to include Windows, Mac OS and Linux; current software systems, protocols and standards including firewall, Active Directory and Virtual Private Networks; implementing and maintaining group policy objects and storage area networks (SAN) including creating LUNs, storage groups and data stores. Experience with deploying and maintaining a virtual environment to include ESX host, virtual servers and virtual desktops (VDI).
Current Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE Server Infrastructure) certification or completed within one (1) year of hire.
Must be able to identify, analyze and troubleshoot a wide range of complex technical computer and/or network related problems effectively and efficiently. Strong knowledge of local area network administration.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Adept at reading, writing and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals. Ability to present ideas and solutions in a user-friendly language.
Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Experience with Cisco UCS is a plus. Experience with EMC or HP 3Par SAN is a plus. Experience with MS Exchange 2010 or higher is a plus.
