Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for monitoring, scheduling, processing, back-up and archiving batch jobs for multiple lines of business. Escalate high severity issues for all lines of business to on-call team for immediate resolution. Monitor Data Center environmental and hardware performance and escalate alerts for prompt resolution to ensure optimal system performance.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Executes and monitors job streams based on daily, weekly, monthly schedules or as requested and records and escalates discrepancies as needed.

  • Supports and monitors data back-ups based on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules to include executing month-end backups according to run schedules, initiating notification of backup and/or server issues, monitoring for hardware failures, loading and unloading of media, assigning retention dates for off-site storage and restores, and arranging delivery of media for restore request from off-site storage facility (Iron Mountain).

  • Provides specified data files to vendors and lines of business (i.e. - credit files; invoices) and verifies validity and receipt of transferred files.

  • Operates as the Operational Intelligence Center providing improved searches to lines of business supported by the GSC support teams and our off-shore partners.

  • Manages severity 1 and 2 Infrastructure related incident tickets by escalating to appropriate on-call teams and initiating problem resolution, providing timely updates and follow-up as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.

  • Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.

  • None.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.

  • 2-5 years experience as a Computer Operator or System Administrator.

  • Experience monitoring Unix, Linux, and Windows systems.

  • Experience with Veritas Netbackup

  • Job Scheduler experience, preferably UC4

RMC is hiring a System Administrator to support our customer in Orlando, FL. The selected applicant will provide desktop and server hardware setup and configuration. They will perform operating system installation, configuration and maintenance support using Windows and Linux. The selected applicant will also: * Perform Software installation and setup * Have knowledge and experience with Active Directory and SQL Database applications * Have experience with the virtualization of systems (VMWare ESXi) * Evaluate, test and integrate new operation systems versions, drivers and patches * Have the ability to harden systems to be in compliance with DoD RMF policies * Perform system backup and recovery * Do performance monitoring including monitoring disk space, utilization, capacity and availability * Perform security monitoring and maintaining security patches and updates * Vulnerability Management and compliance reporting * Install/create client based firewalls, antivirus and antispyware * Perform general IT requirements installation, configuration, maintenance, and security in a classified or unclassified network environment A bachelor's degree in computer science or IT related field and three (3) years of relevant experience is required. The selected applicant must have DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 Certification (Security + CE) and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. In lieu of a degree, an additional four (4) years of relevant work experience or certifications/trainings are required. Security Clearance: An active DoD secret clearance is required to start a current SSBI is highly desired.
