Job Description

Provide on-siteTier II supportfor the administrative operation and maintenance of server hardware and software on NIPR/SIPR/JWICS and other classified networks. Maintains system security; executes practices and procedures; and monitors usage statistics and logs.

Initiates troubleshooting and incident response procedures for system related problems. Performs technical troubleshooting to solve complex problems anddocuments all solutions to assist in handling future similar problems in the Knowledge Base library. Addresses requests in priority order; tracks through to resolution and documents all work tasks; projects; assignments; etc in the customer's ticketing systems.

Escalates unresolved issues to senior administrators/engineers for resolution as needed. Identifies and suggests necessary solutions or process changes to improve efficiency. Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of company's server infrastructure including Microsoft platforms; all supported enterprise applications and services. All support shall comply with applicable DOD regulations and site procedures.

Knowledge; Skills and Abilities

DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Security+)

Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory administration and Windows Server platforms (2008R2/2012R2)

Experience with server virtualization (VMWare or Microsoft Hyper-V preferred)

Experience with management of Storage Area Networking environments

Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact; effective listening skills and follow through

Solid worth ethic and the ability to work in a mission critical environment

Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work

Education

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; technical certifications or training; or work experience.

Under the I2TS 3 task order, INSCOM ensures reliable, uninterrupted availability of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) including: networks, hardware, software, engineering, and specialized tools at the point of customer need to support INSCOM's mission. INSCOM and its MSCs provide the enabling layer to connect the Army and its tactical formations to defense and national intelligence agencies via tactical networks. The ability to provide mission critical intelligence is dependent on the successful use of its information technology (IT) networks worldwide.</p><p>Principal Duties and Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Provide system administration support for Linux/Solaris operating systems including installing software, applying patches, managing file systems, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting alerts from monitoring tools.</p></li><li><p>Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system, servers, hardware, and applications software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems on servers, including system failure analysis and recovery, insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems.</p></li><li><p>In-depth hardware configuration knowledge, shell programming expertise, and a solid understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and works under general supervision.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for daily monitoring of interface programs between multiple enterprise systems; review daily logs and ensure successful completion.</p></li><li><p>Perform incremental and full cold backups/patching.</p></li><li><p>Setup backups for Linux and Oracle databases.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for DoD Linux Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).</p></li><li><p>Provide performance metrics and usage charts, including CPU usage, disk usage and network uptime for the Linux Servers.</p></li><li><p>Provide general maintenance, upgrades, and new installation of servers and coordinate with data center personnel to execute.
