Summary:
As a member of the Patient Safety and Quality Department, this individual will commit to actively pursuing improvements in quality and patient safety metrics and support quality initiatives throughout Covenant HealthCare.
The Systems Administrator works closely with the Director and Manager of Patient Safety and Quality Department to ensure information, data and reports from third party vendor systems are available for analytical review when needed. These vendor applications may include, but not limited to, The Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), Quality Net (QNet), Hospital Compare, American Hospital Association (AHA), Michigan Hospital Association (MHA), National Quality Forum (NQF), National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators(NDNQI), Leapfrog, BCBSM, Crimson, Truven, National Health Care Safety Network (NHSN-CDC), Keystone/KDS and The Advisory Board.
The System Administrator will guide the interpretation of the data from third party vendor sources to assist with identifying trends and opportunities for performance improvement throughout the organization.
The System Administrator will work closely with the Analytics / eCovenant IT Team to ensure updated quality metrics for the Quality Dashboard, Board of Director Reports, Readmission Dashboard and other relevant dashboards are available when needed.
The Systems Administrator is responsible for leading collaborative, organization-wide Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) preparations throughout Covenant HealthCare. They will become knowledgeable with the HFAP accreditation manuals and facilitate the hospital wide HFAP meeting. The Systems Administrator will be instrumental during announced and unannounced HFAP and other regulatory or State of Michigan visits.

Responsibilities:
Supports the accomplishment of corporate strategic plans that achieve high impact and significant improvements in organizational performance
Define the need, expected benefits, and alignment of process improvement projects to the organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals and business priorities
Applies, teaches, and skillfully uses techniques for project management, problem solving, facilitation, leadership, conflict management, and team building skills to ensure progress toward achievement of strategic goals
Leads collaborative, organization-wide HFAP readiness initiatives throughout Covenant HealthCare; Facilitates the HFAPHHFAP Team
Remains current on HFAP standards and measurement metrics
Supports the generation of policies and procedures that support HFAP standards
Acquires data from third party vendors such as QNet, CMS, Hospital Compare, NDNQI, NHSN, Crimson, Truven, Keystone/KDS etc
Synthesize information from relevant sources (QNet, CMS, Hospital Compare, NDNQI, NHSN, Crimson, Truven, etc) to determine current and historical data and identify opportunities for improvement
Protects the privacy and security of data and PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Demonstrate knowledge in the use of analytical and statistical tools and techniques to identify when, where and how to measure processes and system and make decisions supported by data
Assists in the creation of quality dashboards that support quality improvement across the organization
Performs under minimal supervision with accountability for specific goals / objectives. Works with the Director of Patient Safety and Quality, VPMA and CTO to provide relevant data and reports to the organizational and unit level
Commits to actively pursuing improvements in quality and patient safety metrics and support quality initiatives throughout Covenant HealthCare
Other information:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Health Related Field or Computer Science
Master's Degree preferred
5 Years of healthcare experience preferred
Process Improvement knowledge (Six Sigma, LEAN, PDCA) preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, power point presentation, and safety specific software (NHSN)
Knowledge of clinical, operational, and Process Improvement systems methodologies and tools such as Six Sigma, LEAN, Focused PDCA, preffered.
Advanced knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation guidelines and standards
Leadership, team facilitation, change management, and teaching abilities
Positive and highly effective interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively with various levels of management personnel, physicians, board members, and other community members
Advanced skills in leading and facilitating groups, decision-making and conflict resolution
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priority projects simultaneously
Able to work flexible hours as needed
Able to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions
