Job Title: Systems Administrator

Department: I.T.

Reports To: IT Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt/Salary

Supervise the work of others: No

Position Summary: This position is responsible for day to day design, build and maintenance of information systems and will work closely with the IT Manager on several projects, for our rapidly growing company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This list is not comprehensive but meant to represent the most common or important duties of the position. Other duties are required and/or assigned.

  • Responsible for the administration of enterprise computer systems, servers, and network infrastructure.

  • Identifies and implements security best practices that minimize company risk and align with client requirements and project needs.

  • Ensures that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently and identifies areas where workflows can be enhanced or streamlined.

  • Monitors metrics, logging, and system performance and develop strategies for improvement.

  • Provides technical guidance and educates team members and coworkers as systems evolve and new enhancements are implemented.

  • Effectively organizes and manages projects as necessary while lending continuous support to the team.

  • Leverages physical, virtual, or cloud-based systems and other third-party providers to build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning.

  • Documents and designs new processes and updates existing processes.

  • Performs or delegates regular backup operations and implements appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.

  • Provides guidance and recommendation to IT leadership team for planning and implementing new or upgrading existing IT infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of system security best practices (e.g., especially as it relates to sharing client data), as well as data backup/recovery

  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP) and patch management.

  • Familiarity with Windows and Mac-based client workstations and servers

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service.

  • Security gateways and spam appliances, Microsoft Exchange, MS Office 365 and Exchange Cloud Services, MS Azure, MS Active Directory, IMAP and POP3 servers, NAS, SAN, iSCSI, machine virtualization, routers, network switches, wireless access points, anti-virus and malware systems, back-up/archive systems, SSL certificates

  • Able to research and learn new technologies

  • Must be able to meet and work against strict deadlines

  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; professional certifications a plus.

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role

  • Experience with Server operating systems and services including Windows 2008/2012/2016

  • Experience with the following a plus: Windows PowerShell or other scripting knowledge, Okta, multifactor authentication, virtual networking, telephone systems.

  • DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MCSA, DevOps, Lifecycle Services, CCNA, Azure, VMware, Azure

  • Reporting / BI Development experience

  • ERP and CRM implementation experience

  • ERP software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret IT and general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, vendors and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to gain an understanding of operational processes as needs as it relates to technology and communication equipment and work effectively with operational staff in the coordination of IT projects and identifying operational technology needs.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Maintains a valid Driver's License.

Mental: Must be able to effectively communicate with others; complete and understand complex analysis of computer/phone system issues and business related issues with IT ;research, read, analyze and interpret written materials; meet and exceed company standards; ensure compliance with company policies; respond appropriately to feedback to make improvements; maintain positive working relationships; troubleshoot and solve problems.

Physical: Must be able to use computer equipment, exerting up to 25 lbs of force occasionally and or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, kneel, reach, push, pull and lift for sustained periods of time. Must be able to stand, walk sit and type of long periods of time.

Exposure to moderate noise level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Knowledge of IT systems, software, phone systems, modern business communication, office procedures and methods. Must be able to work with other departments and employees. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork.

Equipment Used: telephones, computer, other office equipment as needed. Responsible for fax machines, copiers, printers, and security system.

Special/ Additional Requirements: Persons in this position may be required to pass a drug, alcohol, and/or criminal background check.
