The Systems Administrator is responsible for end-to-end server management, including provisioning, configuration, and maintenance across the organization. Ensuring each server operates optimally, considering performance, security, and reliability. Weekly Server Maintenance Reports, encompassing updates, patches, security enhancements, and performance monitoring results.

Responsibilities:

  • Timely application of OS patches, updates, and security fixes to maintain server health. Adhering to a rigorous patch management schedule, prioritizing critical security updates while minimizing service disruptions. Patch management schedule documentation and timely patch application records.

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data integrity and availability. Regularly testing recovery procedures for reliability during critical scenarios. Detailed backup and recovery documentation, including test results and recovery plans.

  • Enforcing security policies, conducting security assessments, and promptly addressing vulnerabilities. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Security Compliance Reports, outlining security assessments, vulnerabilities addressed, and mitigation plans.

  • Manage user accounts and access controls, maintaining a secure and organized network environment. Responsible for user account administration, permissions management, and access control policies. User account and access control documentation, including access reviews and permissions changes.

  • Serve as first-responder for server and system-related issues, utilizing a helpdesk ticketing system for tracking and documenting reported issues. Maintaining a knowledge base for expedited troubleshooting. Troubleshooting Documentation, including issue reports, resolution steps, and a knowledge base.

  • Accurate documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Daily documentation of activities in Azure DevOps, encompassing work items, code commits, and deployment details. Daily Azure DevOps Documentation, providing detailed records of work items, code commits, and deployment activities.

  • Hardware Inventory and Maintenance: Overseeing server hardware maintenance, including component installation and replacement. Maintaining an updated inventory of hardware details. Hardware Inventory Records, encompassing maintenance history and schedules.

  • Proactively monitoring server performance to identify and address issues. Implementing monitoring tools for tracking CPU usage, memory, disk space, network traffic, and application performance. Offering optimization recommendations based on performance data. Performance Monitoring Reports and Optimization Recommendations, including performance trends and improvement plans.

  • Monitoring the operation of server, SAN, network resources, server backups, disaster recovery, infrastructure network cabling, and infrastructure power cabling. Ensuring hardware and software operate within operational standards. Building, configuring, and testing physical and virtual machines for deployment throughout the environment. Proficiency in VMware, Windows Active Directory, DNS, GPO creation and maintenance, DHCP, SQL Server, and Cloud computing. Supporting the server IT refreshment program, including image/refresh activities. Performing daily, weekly, and monthly server backups as per ITB Backup Procedures, Continuity of Operations (COOP), Contingency, and Disaster Recovery Plans. Adherence to operational standards, documentation of machine configurations, proficiency records, and compliance with backup procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, or equivalent training/certifications and 3-5 years of experience providing system administration support.

  • Experience in operational functions of administering and maintaining Windows Servers, Network Components, Desktop Administration.
