Job Title: Systems Admin with AWS-CHEF
Fairfax, VA
Main Responsibilities
Systems Administration in a Linux, Apache, server environment supporting a high-volume ecommerce site and corporate office
Monitor performance and resource utilization of physical servers, virtual servers, storage, etc. Identify resource and performance issues; make and implement recommendations to resolve those issues
Configure and manage server management agents and logging
Configuration and monitoring of AWS environment and technologies including: CHEF, CloudWatch, SQS, ALBs, Aurora, WAF, & Alien Vault
Creation and deployment of AMIs as well as dynamic scaling of AWS environment
Perform basic System Administration functions including: hardware installation, OS installation, OS configuration, Driver updates, Firmware updates, and Patch installation
Perform compilation, installation, configuration, and administration functions for Apache web server
Work closely with 3rd party hosting providers and content delivery networks
Manage Security of the Operating Systems
Develop documentation on system administration processes and procedures.
Assist in educating others in the IT Department as well as End-users
Comply and enforce established security standards to satisfy PCI-DSS requirements
Comply with the established computing controls to satisfy Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
After hours work is occasionally required. This is estimated at an average of 1-2 hours per week from home. In addition, the sys admin may be asked to work odd hours or on the weekend as the business requires.
Ability to implement automation tasks in a Linux environment

Education & Experience Requirements
Solid experience managing Linux in a distributed infrastructure is a must
Expertise in CDN management & configuration is a plus
Working knowledge of MySQL is required
Experience with varnish and memcache are pluses
Hardware clustering, load balancing, and virtualization (VM Ware, VirtualBox, xen, etc.) are all pluses
Experience with Perl is preferred
Working knowledge of Nagios, Cacti, and Datadog are pluses
Analytical skills and a desire to learn the business processes that they will be supporting
Ability to interact with business users, database administrators and application developers
